I’ve downloaded and installed the WD Database program and enabled the saving separate WD database program, but there is no data going to the file :?:
if you are using the very latest beta verisn of wd, i have switched the data sharing to the registry, instead of using the wdisplay.ini file, which might have been causing problems
so download a new wddatabase.exe at:
http://www.weather-display.com/downloads/wddatabase.zip
try that
i am uploading this new one with the whole install now…
I downloaded the new wddatabase.zip file and installed. Still no data appearing in the wd.mdb file :?:
under setup, general and misc, do you set to yes to enable saving data to the separate data base program?
Yes, I have enabled that. I tried restarting the program and the computer with no luck. The wd.mdb file is there, just empty. Using 9.97h
what about setting up the windows ODB data base driver, and telign it where the wd.db file is…
there is some old threads on this subject…
Yes I’ve done that too. Tell me where the old thread is on this and I’ll check it out.
sounds like you have done it all correct
note, though, you need to click on load (?) button in the wddatabase program (which needs to be running) to view the data
or try viewing the wd.db file in access
i will have a play with it later, got to do some painting , the father in law in here now
It may be something in v9.97h. I downloaded 9.99b and now the records are showing up every minute. Reloaded 9.97h and the records stopped. I’m now back with 9.99b.
Additionally, the instructions don’t say that you have to have wddatabase running for the data to collect. I thought it would send to the wd file without the database program running.
yes, i changed it since 9.97h where it uses the registry to get the data to it…instead of wdisplay.ini (as that migth cuase crashes of WD) … i did mention that at the start of this thread
the wddatabase.exe needs to be left running, otherwise no other way for the data to get added to the wd.db file…
good you have it going
I was happily running with a database under 9.97h but switched to 9.99d and had some very strange results.
1). The data for the old entries in the database became scrambled - eg. Dates that were valid December dates turned into 18/08/2003 and other values in the rows were incorrect ( template shifted? )
2). I only get one record per start of WDisplay.
soo…
a). Do I delete the database and start again?
b). Is there an easy way of loading old data from the WDisplay logs into the SQL database.
No real urgency or pain, as I make no use of the database yet, but am planning to use it to polish up my SQL skills.
Weather station installed at the beginning of December, so I’m a newbie, but with long experince in IT.
Thanks
my fault:
you need to download
http://www.weather-display.com/downloads/wddatabase.zip
and use that
as it now uses the wdisplayftp.ini in the registry to share the data
as using the wdisplay.ini file might have cauased problems
I’m already running on the 8th December version, and have the problem.
I’ll try deleting and rebuilding the database.
Do I need to fiddle with any of the register entries?
Thanks
…having a bad morning , posted a message similar to this on the wrong thread.
I assumed your link reffered to the December 8th program, but having used the program in the link, it is now recording correctly.
The old data is still gargabed, but I’ll delete that at some time.
Thanks
lol, i wondered about that!
