WD and 1 wire

Well Brian, I hate to say it but it looks like that problem with WD slowing down and loosing the com port is, in fact a bug in WD. I’ve been running AAG’s weather software for several hours now, and everything is working perfectly. In fact, we had a low pressure front move through and dump almost .250" of rain in an hour and I sat here and watched the AAG software show the baro fall, then start measuring the rain (now I know the rain gauge works), and the baro start to rise again as it passed. I would have had to exit WD and reboot at least twice in the time AAG’s program has been up. Perhaps there’s a problem in your aagbaro.exe? Because WD runs fine as long as the baro is not connected.

Jeep,

Had something similar. The program would slow up and eventually stop-- acted like a bad case of constipation. Restarting the program would fix for a bit.

Make sure the setting of polling delay for wind direction/temp is 30, not zero. (under extra/misc settings tab).
Zero seems to send something into a near infinite loop.

Since this change all has been well.

did you change that setting jeep (as I suggested you to), just as a follow up? (double check maybe)_

Yes, I tried that.
When I got home from work at 3:00 am I found the graph had stopped recording around 1:00 am, the time display was only updating every 15 seconds, and it had not done the daily reset at 12:00 am. I managed to get into 1 wire setup, and found the main window had a long repeating list of:

No Wind Device
No Wind Device
No Rain Device, will reset
No Wind Device
No Wind Device
No Rain Device, will reset
No Wind Device
No Wind Device
No Rain Device, will reset
No Wind Device
No Wind Device
No Rain Device, will reset
No Wind Device
No Wind Device
No Rain Device, will reset

etc. etc.

I think I “MAY” have finally figured it out. It’s been running 9 hours now with no signs of it slowing down.
I went into the properties of the com port the station is connected to, and under advanced, turned the fifo recieve buffer down 1 notch.

that sounds interesting

Yea, running 11 hours now. If it’s still running when I get hom from work, I’m going to call it a success and switch the 1 wire to updating my web site.
