Would it be possible to optionally replace the Apparent Temperature or the Inside Humidity on the Index.gif (Main Display) with the THSW (Temperature/Humidty/Solar/Wind) from the Davis VP Pro Plus console display?
WD has no similiar function, so I would love to be able display the THSW on the main screen. It’s quite relevant here.
Yes, I am using Apparent Temperature now but it difers signficantly from THSW because it does not take in to acount the solar (sun) affect. Today, for example, I had a temperature of 93, an apparent temperature of 89 (because it was dry) but a THSW of 104 because the sun was very hot. When you are outside in the sun, THSW feels much more accurate, If you are in the shade, Aparrent Temperature is more accurate. It would be nice to have booth.
if you have solar, there is the option to show apparent temperature solar
see in the extra/misc setup
i would be interested to know how it compares with davis thsw
i have been sent the equations for the thsw, but have not got around to using them yet
Sorry, I meant to say that I do have Apparent Temp Solar checked under the Solar Setup but I didn’t realize that I also needed it checked under Misc… We’ll see what happens tomorrow now that I have that checked too! It is a little odd that even though it is pitch dark here now, the Apparent Temp Solar is showing 8 degree higher than the temperature and 4 degrees higher than the heat index… I also notice that the apparent temp solar label does not quite fit on the main display, by the way… Removing the two periods and sliding it over by that amount may take care of it.
you missed my post
i said to tick to use apparent temperature solar
which takes into account the heating of the sun on the skin surface
well, i will see what i can do…when I get time
but, i spend so much time doing things for people, adding new things, helping people, etc, but receive no compensation for doing it
(and sales of WD, despite my best efforts, only just border on being worth all the time and energy! (maybe there are lots of people using pirated/cheated versions out there?), or maybe people think its no good?)
:-({|= :-({|=
Well, rest assured that some of us definitely appreciate all of your efforts!
Thanks!

thats the main thing
I am hoping that as I have fixed lots of old bugs lately, and making an effort on the new help file (finally), all that might end up with some more sales
(we need it here, have to pay huge amount of tax after selling the cows )
next thing I will do is make it so you can easily customise the summary image
(i.e move labels around, hide labels, resize, move the icon, add an image, etc
just like the custom screen
(which is much more user freindly now…just hold the ctrl key on the keyboard when the mouse is over an image, etc, to resize that image (or graph, etc)
i have used a custom screen to make this (and using custom tags, etc):
Question - How do I delete a post that was accidently submitted twice. Like this one. It was a slightly different version of the next one. I just wanted to delete it. I cant, but I am able to change it.
OK. Now that I am displaying “App. temp.solar” on the main screen, the words overwrite the displayed temperature and I can’t read it. How can I fix that?
h
are you using wd at full screen size, and larger than 800x600 screen size?
doing it that way should make more room
but otherwise i will make the font size smaller…

You can only delete the last post in a thread (the "X" button), once there is a reply you can't delete it. So, assuming there's no reply to your two posts you could delete the last one and edit the first, or once you have deleted the last, then the first becomes the last and you can delete that one too and just start over. You can play in the Test (aka Secret Discussion  ) forum.
Does this also affect the webpage index.gif image? I didn’t know they were linked…
I run WD at 800 by 600 size since I like it as a window on my 1280 by 1024 desktop…
Tom
An update: All be damned, the web page image does follow the desktop image… I set the “use full screen if larger than 800 x 600” to Yes (which doesn’t actually produce a full screen image on my system - perhaps it is supposed to work this way) and then used the “Increase the Screen Size” function to get what size and font layout I wanted…
I did notice that there are some interactions though…
For example, as you increase the size you can get a strange mix of font sizes. Also, at some increased size settings, WD does not remember the size when you restart it - it wil drop down a size or so on restart…

yeah, there are problem with using that facility, when it goes to produce the 800x600 size for the internet…
i might have to come up with an aternative system
(like have a twin screen that is created, and all data update on it, that is 800x600 set, used for the web image)
Ok, I have made some observations of the WD calculated values for Heat Index and Apparent Solar Temperature versus the VP Plus displayed equivalent values:
10pm: Temperature 70, Humidity 51%, Wind 1-3 MPH, Solar 0
…Apparent solar (WD)/THSW (VP)…Heat Index
WD…78…77
VP+…66…69
1:30pm: Temperature 86, Humidity 35%, Wind 6-8 MPH, Solar 810
…Apparent solar (WD)/THSW (VP)…Heat Index
WD…107…85
VP+…101…86
5:30pm: Temperature 86, Humidity 32%, Wind 2-6 MPH, Solar 413
…Apparent solar (WD)/THSW (VP)…Heat Index
WD…102…85
VP+…91…85
It’s interesting that there are some significant differences, particularly in apparent solar/thsw… My gut feeling is that the VP is closer to the truth as the WD apparent temp solar seems to always be too high… It’s also odd that at night when there is no solar, the WD apparent temp and apparent temp solar are not the same - apparent temp solar is about 5 to 10 degrees higher than apparent temp.
i think it would be quite hard to compare, becuase you wont know what data they are both using…i.e there wil be differences in the windspeed they are both using, solar, etc…ie. the vp might be averaging the vaslues more, etc
as for apparent temp solar in wd at night time, i better fix that so that it uses just the apparent temp when its night time, LOL
also, the WD apparent temp solar is a different measure to the davis one, and i dont really know how much you should compare, if only for interesets sake
I chose times to compare when the data and readings had been constant for everything for some time. Also, I notice that the Apparent Temp Solar runs a fairly consistant 10 degrees higher all the time than the VP’s THSW reading.
