Forum use is growing quite dramatically, both in numbers of new users and new posts. I’m also seeing a fair number of ‘repeat questions’ being asked, or people having problems which may not be bugs, but are perhaps config issues that have been addressed before, or even problems which might be best addressed by a documented ‘problem solving’ tick-list. The “HOWTO’s and Hints & Tips” board was supposed to address this, but it’s not really been used that way (my fault for not managing it well enough).
So I’m looking for 3-4 volunteers who know WD fairly well and who use the forum on a fairly regular basis to be promoted to moderators of the “HOWTO’s and Hints & Tips” board. The intention is to lock that board down so that only moderators can post to it. The moderators will keep an eye on the bugs/problems and solutions being reported/fixed. They can then cut/paste fixes/suggestions together to make a FAQ about it and put it in the HOWTO’s board to allow people with the same/similar problem in the future to read about it. As we get a stock of FAQs/FFPs (Frequently Found Problems!) then users reporting problems can be pointed at the FAQs as a first place to look. If the FAQ doesn’t solve the problem, then it will need addressing as a new problem.
This isn’t meant to be an onerous job and volunteers will be able to work whenever they want in whatever timezone they choose. Payment will be made in any currency at a rate of zero ‘local units of currency’ per hour
Only if you’re drinking a lot for some reason  Actually that’s a stupid answer…it’s obvious why you’re drinking a lot…you’re a student and it’s your 21st birthday today. Hippo Birdie Two Ewes.
I was thinking more of cutting/pasting some text from the thread where the problem was fixed to describe the problem and fix/diagnostic method. Links back to the original threads could be included, but it’s probably better if the note spells out what to do (or try to do) to fix the problem.
Sigh, I don’t know what is worse. That I missed spelled CPU or that it took me like 2 min to figure out what you guys for joking about :silly:
I enjoy a nice drink at 10 AM.
That makes much more sense than what I was thinking.
I would be happy to help out. It would force to help someone, instead of just lurking in the chatter thread :firestarter:
I think its a great idea…and I hope you get some people to help out… I wouldn’t mind being put on the future helpers list… I have to finish building my house (end of March hopefully) and wait til the baby is a little older (6 months old would be good) and I have my teaching job (any day now)…Lots on the plate at the moment…but then I would like to help…
