Using Metar Rain Data In WD

added the Storm data now to the latest .zip update of WD

Awsome. Will download it and check it out. :o

Do I need to change anything to start using the data from my Storm within WD?

Hi…WD should auto pick up the data…as long as its in your api data (it is in ardvarks data feed)
see if it shows in the bloomsky.txt file in the WD web files folder
there is an update to the cronbloomsky.exe also in the latest WD update

Here is what I get from the bloomsky.txt file:

[{“UTC”:-8,“CityName”:“Walnut Creek”,“Storm”:{“RainRate”:9999,“SustainedWindSpeed”:9999,“RainDaily”:0.0,“WindDirection”:9999,“WindGust”:9999},“Searchable”:true,“DeviceName”:“Walnut Avenue”,“RegisterTime”:1481220403,“DST”:0,“BoundedPoint”:“”,“LON”:-122.0281982421875,“Point”:{},“VideoList”:[“http://s3.amazonaws.com/bskytimelapses/gqBxp6apnJSnm6il_-8_2017-01-20.mp4",“http://s3.amazonaws.com/bskytimelapses/gqBxp6apnJSnm6il_-8_2017-01-21.mp4”,“http://s3.amazonaws.com/bskytimelapses/gqBxp6apnJSnm6il_-8_2017-01-22.mp4”,“http://s3.amazonaws.com/bskytimelapses/gqBxp6apnJSnm6il_-8_2017-01-23.mp4”,"http://s3.amazonaws.com/bskytimelapses/gqBxp6apnJSnm6il_-8_2017-01-24.mp4”]

Fixed the problem; reset the dongle. It is now reporting to WD Thanks!

Still no able to download NOAA Forecast. Is the NOAA Forecast used to make the 5 day forecast gif?

"RainRate":9999,"SustainedWindSpeed":9999,"RainDaily":0.0,"WindDirection":9999,"WindGust":9999},"
your data is obviously out of range which suggests to me your sky is not either sending or they are still rolling out support of all devices to the api data feed does the sky data show on your mobile phone app?

ah, just seen your reply

re noaa forecast download, yes…that is…if you have setup to use that
you do need to make sure you are downloading the correct file
what do you have set there?

ps, you should unset now for WD to use the metar data as its data

Almost forgot about unchecking the Metar information 8O

For the NOAA Forecast I have it set as: Dirctory: is set to CA and I have the file set at caz511.txt (I live in California in the East Bay). I checked the NOAA and the file is there; but when I do the test I get the below from the log:

actual messages from upload session**

that is the metar download
and that is using the http method
are you using the latest ftpupd.exe version?
(included in the full install)
needed to be using https for http download of metars
download from
http://www.weather-display.com/downloadfiles/ftpupd.zip

That fixed the error

So the forecast gif File#40 should be updated with the NOAA data? I have the file selected for the 5 day forecast.

post a screen shot of your noaa forecast download in WD

Here is the data from the file

the problem is that is the wrong file to be using
it needs to be one that has at least 5 days in the forecast
make sure to follow the file naming like in the example shown in the setup

an alternative solution for a 5 day forecast
is under
view
wunderground alamanac
set your city there (use the search function)
and then the 5 day forecast for that city is shown at that bottom of that screen

I could make those 5 day forecasts available as custom tags

you can also use your own acquired WU API key

I go and look on the NOAA site for the right file. Thought I had the right file. Is there a certain for that I’m looking for?

If not I might use the weather underground API way? How would I set this up?

I don’t understand why it’s not the right file, the url appears to comply with the page instructions

http://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/data/forecasts/zone/ca/caz511.txt

that url looks correct format
let me test that in WD

re wunderground:
get your free api key
https://www.wunderground.com/weather/api/

then in WD under view, wunderground almanac
use the search for your city function
and you should see a 5 day forecast at the bottom once all going
I could make custom tags for that forecast

Ok, i tested the caz511.txt
and that does work
I selected that file to use for the 5 day forecast
then I clicked on the main screen icon
and the 5 day forecast showed up OK

I have added custom tags for the wunderground almanac 5 day forecast now (and image files of those icons)
