USB connections

Has anyone run a WM-918 via a USB to serial converter?

If so what Com port in WD did you have to select (I don’t see USB listed as a selectable option and can’t recall seeing USB ports being given a Com port number).

Brian - any thoughts on this please?

(I want to move the weather station to a machine that only has USB ports free…)

Hi - I have been using a Serial to USB on my WM-928 for a while now with no problems.

Ops forgot I am using com 5

Not having used a USB in this situation before - did the OS allocate Com 5 to the USB port or what else did you have to do??

the software that comes with the usb adaptor gets winodws to allocate the com port number, and to find that number, simply go to control panel, system, hardware, device manager, and select ports, then it will be listed there (usb serial adaptor and the com port number)

the latest USB serial adaptors are now very good, with good drivers
the earlier ones had problems

Ahhhh but generally available USB-Serial adapters don;t come with software! (sorry to be a pain - this is why I am asking…)

i think you will find they do, actualy
its a cd with the drivers on that

all the ones i have purchased and tested have a CD with them
the one you can get from DSE does (that DSE makes)

OK take it all back - it’s a bloody 3" CD tucked in the back of the card :frowning: - apologies - now, just WHERE did I put my reading glasses!

Welcome to the club. I do overlook things all the time. This is embarrassing. Now I say I don
