If you update Weather Display during trial will it affect the time limit on the program ?
Also will you lose any data you have recorded at all ?
Thirdly do you download the whole program again or just an update file ?
Updating should not affect the time limit on the trial and should not cause you to lose any data if you install the update to the same location as the current version (other than the data that might be missed during the time the program is shut down to update). As far as downloading the whole program or just an update file, either should work. I prefer (no, I don’t know why) to download the whole thing.
Hmmm, what’s really going on here? On March 11th VENGABOY posted
Is there any way that ican get a bit of extra time to use the software before i register it ?
Do not get me wrong i want to buy it but the time has ran out and it has caught me at a bad time in the month and now i can’t use my stations with the software.
Ya know, I tried WD for about 1 week, realised that I liked it, but tested it another week before I knew it was the software for me. Then, I paid for it.
Software worth using is software worth paying for. To try to pirate, or “cheat” the time limit of WD is not hurting a huge corporation, but a guy who actually wrote the software, supports it, reads this board and answers questions directly!!
In the near future, I plan on “downgrading” the computer I currently have WD running on. My in-laws do not have a computer and I was going to give them mine and replace it with an older, cheap system (since it will only be used for WD, I’m hoping I can use a older system from ebay, with a low wattage power supply). Anyway, my point is that it is people like VENGABOY that will make me feel guilty asking Brian for a new code for the new machine.
It is also because of people like VENGABOY that more and more restrictions need to be placed on trial software.
yes, you should not loose any data when upgrading the program…
as long as everything works ok on the start up (i.e no error under view, program error log)…and even that can be fixed.
yeah, sales of WD are only just enough to warrent the time i spend on it, but thats about all really
oh well, as long as people enjoy using it, and people are not too demanding of my spare time (that seems to be happening more and more, but i guess thats human nature))

Brian
My question is, WHERE do you find the time that you put in for WD ? Or does your part of the world have more than 24hrs in a day ??? I’m sure 99% of users of your excellent software appreciate the time that you put in and that is your ‘spare’ time.
I very much appreciate the efforts Brian puts into Weather-Display. Like you Trev, I’ve wondered how he finds the time to make the product and support as great as it is!
I would like to see a selection on the Weather-Display purchase page, where users can voluntarily make support contributions to Brian.
