Total Lunar Eclipse Tonight, but not for Brian :-(

Can someone take a picture. It’s raining here. :frowning:

someone noted its not on the moon extra details in wd
is that the case>?

same here :x

Grrrrr…looks like 100% cloud cover here tonight :frowning:

Brian, correct, tonight’s eclipse is NOT on the moon extra details.

I can tell you it was on WD moon details about a month ago.

Showed both the lunar and solar eclipses. I was curious why, as we got closer to the eclipse, that they both changed…

I am going to attempt a picture with my digital camera. If it turns out ok I will post it here. Last time I tried to get a picture of the moon it didn’t turn out very well so I am not optomistic. Just hope we are cloud free tonight. Here in California the eclipse will already be started when the moon rises.

if you have a night time mode use it and/or no flash…or a long exposure.

OK, here’s my picture

Took a bunch of pictures, but the clouds were coming in. Used a telescope (30x) and shot through the telescope with my digital camera. Oh well… this was before it was total. Completly overcast when it was total…

that is amazing

i missed it :x

Well, … mine didn’t turn out as well. Taken with a Mavica disc digital. By todays standards, it’s way old. By the time it was “Total” I couldn’t find it in the view finder. No scope, just point and shoot. Pretty good conditions for sighting here in the Tampa Bay area.

mist, fog , overcast and rain. Yep. Iowa…

I have a meade xt90 telescope with the bells, whistles, onboard computer and… its dang overcast. I knew I shouldn’t have wanted to photograph it. I just wonder who flipped off Mom nature and of course this lovely forecast just came over the wire:
SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE ACROSS THE AREA THIS MORNING. A
FEW OF THESE WILL PRODUCE SOME SMALL HAIL. THERE WILL BE A LOW
CHANCE FOR ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY
EVENING. AT THIS TIME IT APPEARS CLOUD COVER WILL LIMIT INSTABILITY
AND NO ORGANIZED SEVERE STORMS ARE EXPECTED. HOWEVER…IF MORE
SUNSHINE THAN EXPECTED DEVELOPS THIS AFTERNOON OVER WESTERN IOWA…A
FEW SEVERE STORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE WEST OF INTERSTATE 35. STRONG
WIND SHEAR WOULD SUPPORT SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS WITH DAMAGING WIND
AND HAIL.
Those NOAA boys and girls have to have stayed up all night on the wording of this puppy.

One more time.
I just took some of the best shots and copied the subject portion (Being round helped) to one image. I still can’t believe the results. I actually took these by putting the lens of my camera against the eypeice of the world’s cheapest Jasco refractor telescope.

Wow, outstanding 8O

Those are brilliant pictures. I keep on intending to dig my 4" reflector telescope out and last night would have been a good time to do it…apart from the cloud, wind and the odd rain shower or three :frowning:

Outstanding pictures! I’d planned to set up my Orion telescope and try to photograph it - but cloudy here too!! Darn!

wow, super stuff guys!!!

Well, my little digital camera struggled with taking pictures, and to be honest, I am not pleased with the outcome. FWIW, here are the best I could find from the bunch I took…

and the full monty

I also took a couple pixs with my 35mm camera and zoom lens. I am hoping they turn out better than these
At any rate, it was fun to watch the eclipse. Won’t happen again until 2007…
