Time synchronisation

Hi Brian,

I wonder if it’s possible to synchronize the Vantage Pro console clock with the PC clock. I have my PC clock synchronized every hour with a time server on the net. It would be a nice feature because the Vantage Pro console clock isn’t very accurate. It’s 2 minutes behind in only 6 days…

Is the option not showing? It used to be there but it had some issues (not all WD) see http://www.weather-watch.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3801&highlight=sync+vp I don’t know if Brian fixed them yet, or maybe he took away the option.

The ooption is still there in 10.13x, under setup/control panel/weather station data logger, I just tested it manually, and all seems ok, although I tested it automatically last week, and it did still have issues, (Brian is aware of them) in automatic mode, it reset’s the clock at 6.05am daily.
cheers

yeah, i need to have that running here and test and fix it, now that i have a VP!

Hi,

does this feature work with a WMR968 too?

hio
no, i do not know how to set the console time of the wmr968…from the pc time
i am not sure if its possible even
the wmr968 has a time sync, via radio, though…do you get that sync in europe?
so do do you mean the other way around?
(station set the pc time?)

Hi,

No, I don’t mean setting PC time by station clock, I realy mean setting station clock by PC time.

The signal for time sync in europe is called DCF77, that can’t be used by the WMR968, I guess!?!

Is the 968 not for the American market?, the 928 is the one for europe it certainly works in UK

Yes, you’re completely right!
But why not using a WMR968 in europe?
The only “missing” feature is the time sync, I guess!

It was a decission made by financial aspects at least:
Why to pay 500,–Euro for a 928 if I can buy a 968 for 50% less? 8)

That sounds like a good reason for getting the 968

The use of the WMR968 is illegal in Europe because the radio frequency is not approved and it is not CE marked that makes importation illegal as well.

Hi Peter,

I don’t know if you’re a german citizen, but I want to answer your remarks:

The frequency of 433MHz is aproved for use of such devices in Germany.
The 968 is using the same transmitters as the 628(N) which is aproved in Germany. So I don’t see a problem using the 968!
The difference between 928N and 968 is the decoder for the time sync signal (in Germany it’s called DCF77 and there’s an other standard in the United States).

CE is no aproval sign of any german official buro for the usage of radio frequencies. This is only given by the "Deutsche Regulierungsbeh
