time lapse movie help [RESOLVED]

I have looked around but can’t find anything to help me.

how do I create a simple time lapse weather movie of still images that I have ftpd to my host.

can this be done in WD?

any links?

are those still images a always the same file name?
if so is that image file available to WD?
if so then you can set WD to create time stamped files, using that image file as the source image
in the control panel, web cam setup, time stamped files
set the source file in the time stamped files setup and in the all day video setup

thats the first step

yes it always has the same file name.

it comes from a Webcam attached to the pc and is ftpd to my host using other software than WD.

WD can ftp the web cam image, see in the ftp/internet setup, web cam setup

so WD has access to the image file?
if so then setup as above

also you can use the “3rd party” web cam setup in WD to add time stamp/weather data overlay to the image

yes WD has access as its created into a folder on the pc.

it has the same name every time.

things i have done:

in time stamped files setup i have pasted the address of the image into the box called ‘the jpeg to be used’

in webcam video setup i have located the same addess to the ‘set directory to where the time stamped files are’

what next?
(is there an faq or wiki i can follow please?)

I am still keen to get this running.

can WD create a movie using a jpeg image from a url address?

ie can it capture it every 5 mins and create a movie?

if not, what do I do next?

thanks.

can WD create a movie using a jpeg image from a url address?
but I thought you said the image is a static file name image avaiable on a directory to WD?

if its only a URL image, then you can set the HTTP download to get the image to a directory and a static file name for WD to use

for what you have set so far, post up some screen shots

the situation has changed since post one.

I now use a php script and a cron job to add wx data text overlay so the image is on my host server rather than on my pc.

the image is at

www.maidenerleghweather.com/webcamimage.jpg

and is my avatar.

then you can set the HTTP download in WD to capture that image to your PC

Couldn’t he use that url as the source for the webcam image and use that functionality to build the movie?

thats another way of doing it

sounds good.

what do I do?

really sorry I have idea and need a little guidance.

would WD auto ftp the movie file and does it auto create it?

if so which screens do I need to access and edit?

yes WD auto creates and auto ftp
see in the webcam setup, all day video setup

See Budgie’s post in http://discourse.weather-watch.com/p/396112

i am trying to download my jpeg but cannot get it to drop into the download folder…?

i followed this Weather-Watch.com - A place for weather watchers to discuss watching the weather

clicked test and nothing has appeared 15 mins later??

Do you mean no .jpg was downloaded when you hit the test button? Or do you mean the test worked OK but the scheduled download 15 mins later didn’t?

If the test download didn’t work could it be that your firewall is stopping WD downloadihng? I used your settings from the screenshot and Test downloaded the file OK.

no jpeg was downloaded in the first place.

we have a firewall but i got some ports opened to allow inbound and outbound traffic.

shame if that is stopping me create the movie.

Plan B?

how about if i scrap the use of Yawcam and use WD to add data labels to the image and then get WD to create a movie automatically?

is there a help wiki anywhere?

i had a look at a couple of the tabs in the “webcam” area of WD and it looks massively complicated (to me!)

thanks so far chaps - I appreciate it.

does yacam not create a image file on your PC that WD can use?

yes it does, so I would like wd to do three things…

use the image and add an overlay
ftp to my host
create a time lapse

so do I

in the control panel, web cam setup,
time stamped files
set the source file in the time stamped
files setup and in the all day video
setup

what then please?
