Some of the temperature-related tags don’t have a space between the number and the units (in my case degrees C). This is only a minor problem but as an example the current temperature displays as '21
really? you learn something every day - I have seen plenty of websites without a space between the number and degree symbol though - including the BBC weather pages here in the UK. I think I prefer no space. Having checked my website though I have indeed got spaces! I can’t say I have noticed as all I look at are the values.
I agree, it looks better without the space. I use the Australian Style Manual regularly so that is my reference source for these important issues . The style rules for written text are pretty similar between Australia/NZ/UK, but US English has its own rules and I wouldn’t be surprised if they use a different standard for writing temperatures.
Having a look through the Australian Bureau of Meteorology site, they seem to drop the degrees C part from most of the forecasts (in places they don’t use a space between the numeral and symbol either). I would guess this is due to the fact that the forecasts are used by a variety of automatic services where it is important to stick to basic plain text without fancy symbols.
The guidelines on spacing and degrees has changed from ‘no space’ in the Fifth edition (1994) to the Sixth edition (2002) of the Style Manual, which now recommends a space. No wonder there is so much confusion!
