Solar sunshine

Hi from France

I have a Ws 2500 weather station with solar sensor

Every other seems allright and well readed by WD…

Solar sensor brightness seems to be converted in % (I don’t know if the data is correct or not, I guess it’s calculated with lat and long, and day duration, or something like that…)

2 questions about that
In France, we have daylight saving time (+ 1 hour between end of March and end of October), so the time in Paris is GMT + 2.
Shall I make some corrections to have good “solar description” during the day (I think that “Dawn” is a bit too early in the day…) ?

2nd question : I don’t have any data for the sunshine duration, but the weather station gives it good…
How can I set WD to have this ??

Actually, I ticked “Set the weather icons…”, “Plot as blocked in”, “Show apparent solar temp”, “Plot solar %…”, “Plot WD’s own ET…”, “Store solar reading…”
But sunshine hours still at 0…

Can you help me ??

Thanks in advance

hi
there is a use daylight saving in the solar setup, so untick that if that is in use

wd will calcualte the daily sunshine hours itself, by comparing the actual solar reading with that expected for the time of day for you lat/long…and using the thresholds you have set
i dont use the reading from the actual station

Thanks, it was ticked but with “0” minute offset needed…

I ask again the same question about sunshine duration, WD doesn’t give me the data which is on weather station
For example, today I have 1.49 h of sunshine duration, and WD stills saying 0.00

What’s wrong ??

Brightness is well converted in %, which gives sky conditions (as overcast, etc…), that is working good, but not the duration…

In the solar setup page of WD, I ticked “Set the weather icons…”, “Plot as blocked in”, “Show apparent solar temp”, “Plot solar %…”, “Plot WD’s own ET…”, “Store solar reading…”

hi
it looks like wd is not using the solar data from the ws2500 to total up sunshine hours (it does that independent from the station )
i will have to look into why its not
but, now, does the solar % go above the threshold you have set for bright sunshine (i.e 85%)?

sorry but the weather is not enough fine to have big sunshine, it’s cloudy since few days…

so, I’m waiting for some or your news

Regards

sorry to talk about this, but solar sunshine duration stills not working, and tells me 0:00 today, and WS 2500 tells : 3h23…
Some thing is wrong…

In the solar setup page of WD, I ticked “Set the weather icons…”, “Plot as blocked in”, “Show apparent solar temp”, “Plot solar %…”, “Plot WD’s own ET…”, “Store solar reading…”

:frowning: :frowning:

Regards

now, during the day, did the solar % get up to the threshold you have set to count for sunshine?
(default is 85%)

No, the highest level of solar% today was 44%. I’ve try to set to “cloudy” between 35 and 55%

Here is the entire record in “customtextout.txt” file 997.0,19.2,12.8,18.9,15.4,18.5,79,26.6,SSW,32.6,32.6,9.2,55.9,436.3,NUAGEUX,0.0,44 %,576,12:45,20/10/2004

thats the problem
you need to get the raw solar reading higher
do that via the solar adjust number in the ws2010/ws2500 data setup
(Ws2500 bright sun shine LUX number)
reduce that number

Actually, I have > 75% sunny, 55%-75% few clouds, 35%-55% clouds, 5%-35% many clouds,

no
please re read my post again
this is the important piece of information:

Ws2500 bright sun shine LUX number

you need to reduce that number on the ws2010/ws2500 setup page
so that the solar % is increased at any raw solar reading

SORRY, bad reading

So it was set to “20000” I’ll try “10000”…
you think it’s enough ??

yes, try that for now
(and then when you get daylight, the raw reading and so the solar % reading should be 2x higher now

OK, thanks…
I must wait tomorrow, now it’s too late…21:15 !!

A few days ago, I told you that in the “customtextout.txt” file, each record was written twice.
I’ve updated the WD version, and now it"s work fine…

Regards

just wait to see how it goes through the day

the % is based on the raw reading compared to the maximum reading expected for your lat/long and for the time ofday (you need to tick to use daylight saving or not), and for your time zone (you need that set correctly in windows regional settings

SO, I did it

I’ve set Ws2500 bright sun shine LUX number to 10000 instead of 20000, and actually, sun is shining great without any cloud, and the brightness says 32%… I guess I need to reduce more the Lux number

But, a few minutes ago, sun is directly on the luxmeter, and it tells 100%…
I don’t know if the settings are well or not

Hi again from France

So, first day of new settings on my brightness and solar sensor
I’ve setted LUX number on 10000 instead of 20000, and the result is… 5.8 h of sunshine duration today.
The WS 2500 station says : 4h04. I have more than 30% too much…
I’ll try to increase a little the LUX number at about 13000 to correct this

Do you think I’m right with my calcultatings ??

Regards…

hi
yes, you are on the right track

Thanks ! let’s see it tomorrow, here it’s 22:45… time to go to bed…

To be continued…

So, I’ve setted LUX number to 13000 instead of 10000, and weather is exactly the same as yeterday, blue and blue sky, but this time I have only 36% (yesterday 100% but too long sunshine duration of the day)…

It becomes boring…
