Solar / Sunshine hour sensor

I have a Oregon WMR928N weather station and using Weather Display. I want to make a Solar / Sunshine hour sensor.

I understand that you can use a tempreture sensor a glass jar and some black paint.

Can anybody point me to a web page with “How to construct” information.

Many thanks

Regards Brian

but you can use a extra temperature sensor with the wmr918 as a solar sensor: place it in a glass jar, and paint the bottom black, so it heats up in the sunlight ... then set the max temperature reading to say 18, and the low at 1 , the fine tune to 1 and 1... then when the temp sensor in the jar is more than 18oc warmer than the station temperature, its 100 % sunshine... and you fine tune it, and you also set the thresholds

1) You need to paint the bottom of the jar black. So, if the the glass jar is up-side-down, it would I assume be the lid painted black inside, so that the glass jar exposes the maximum sunlight into the jar.

Thanks for the replies

Before posting I bought the THC268 Thermo Sensor with Waterproof Probe.

I see that CaptDilli has used a complete unit THGR228 in a jar.

Vergil83 what type did you use?

Should the Jar not be upside down: with the lid painted black?

The TCH268 should work fine. Brian adjusted WD to work with the THC268.

Upside down or right side up should work. What ever makes you happy.

oh, I don't have one, I just remember this discussion from some time a long time ago
