Solar sensor question

Hi,

I have a WS2550 with solar sensor.
I get the readings from my stations in Lux, then WD converts them into Radiation.
Example : 59100 Lux ==> 89.2w/m2

Than in ‘solar sensor setup’ screen, I checked the option : Update the solar value from this max reading for lat/long and time of day.
I also set the option: Set the weather icons from the solar data.

No the question is: where does the value ‘Maximum radiation for lat/date’ come from ??

It seems to be computed continiously but the value is very high compared to the actual radiation value (around 3 times too high).

The problem is that the percentage of the current reading compared to this Max value is always around 30% (mostly cloudy situation).

If I UNCHECK the option : Update the solar value from this max reading for lat/long and time of day, than the current reading is always 100% !

This means that in the first case I always have ‘Mostly cloudy’ conditions and in the second case I always have ‘Bright sunlight’ conditions.

Any help for this would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Oliver

It might be a good idea to update your profile so we have a general idea where you are. The max value is calculated by WD from the latitude, longitude, date and time of day.

On a clear day, at noon, midsummer, or with the sensor pointing at the sun, you should be measuring somewhere around 1000 to 1200 w/m2.

hi
yes, check your lat/long is correct

as its calculated by that (and the time of day)

if you raw reading is too low, on a sunny day, then adjust the 2500 bright sun lux in the ws2010/ws2500 data setup/view (until the 2 agree better)
