Just read dozens of thread about this and the problem is that bulb is made of glas that reflects the IR. and I assume you inserted the temp probe into the light bulb, painting the bulb itself black.
There are various designs people seem to have a success with, just see the threads. You need a black body object to which a temp probe is attached. Thin plate of metal seem to work well, inserted into plastic box, thermal insulation from the bottom, small air space between the metal plate and reversed bottom of te box - when cloudless night, the metal is losing its energy towards the sky more, thus reporst as colder than ambient temperature.

Just the theory, as I understood it, I’m playing now with peltier module for the same purpose so no practical experiences to share in this 8)

Hi Folks I am using a Labratory Flask for my “Jar” its quite a big one perhaps 6 or 8 inches in Diameter maybe less, estimating aint my strong point (perhaps about 600 to 1000 ml flask) My question is, would a much smaller flask enable it to be more responsive heres the flask i have now, any thoughts please?
