Sluggish/slow/hang/freeze Win2k keyboard shortcuts

For several weeks of versions now this PC has a problem executing any keyboard shortcut while WDisplay is running. My guess is that it is ftp or aagbaro. Ctrl Alt F, for instance, executes a shortcut to my F:. But when WDisplay is running there is a delay of tens of seconds. While ‘hung’ Start menu is unavailable & auto hidden taskbar will not pop up. If I re-key it or other keystroke combos, when the system wakes up they all pop at once. This is normally a very fast & smooth PC.

I found one similar report, but no response. I was unable to produce this condition in Win98. I will eventually move this to a dedicated PC, but for now this is a problem in this PC.

Windows 2000 SP4

hi
is it just keyboard short cuts that are affected?
i have assigen a couple of hot keys in wd
maybe thats the problem…

Hi Windy

Multi-key keyboard shortcuts initiate the delay of 15 to 30 seconds. Coolswitch (Alt Tab) still works as do Ctrl Shift Escape & Ctrl Alt Delete. The Windows key on the keyboard & Ctrl Escape will not bring up the Start menu. If I open a Notepad or other window that accepts keyboard input prior to the “situation” & Alt Tab to it, the keyboard works fine. One other note. I use a touch pad that recognizes gestures which trigger shortcuts too. It/they still work fine. There is no other noticeable sluggishness, just keystroke combos & Start Menu are ignored until the condition clears. Then all processes pop up.
