Hi all,
first time member and poster. I have a chance to pick up a weather station with PC interface. These are /were sold by BestBuy, and IIRC, are branded by weather.com, indicating to me the weather channel is behind it. Now, a guy called Basil, in the south of New Zealand, has an excellent sire, uses this software, and I’d like to do something similar. So, the questions.
1 – Has anyone heard anything about this product?
2 – I have an old IBM notebook, 133 Pentium, 32mb of memory, windows 98. I’d like to se this as my weather station server, with the weather-watch package(s) run on an old W98 system?
Okay, those are the starter questions, I’m sure I’ll have more as time, development and expereince progresses.
Thanksa bunch!

Looks like Best Buy sells LaCrosse weather stations branded for the Weather Channel. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat12085&type=page&sc=ALL&qs=weather&cp=1&sp=Relevance&mipp=25&uq=weather&_requestid=62254
Do you know the model number?
LaCrosse is at the lower end of the scale for weather measurement performance and interface quality, but most, if not all, LaCrosse weather stations that have a computer output can work with Weather-Display software.
Better performing station brands you might consider are Oregon Scientific and Davis.
Hi Nikoshepard,
no, sorry, I don’t know the specific model, my friend is out of town for a holiday with family and won’t be back for a week or so (I think). Thanks for the pointers on better system solutions, I’m still a neophyte, but hopeless weather channel junkie!
I’ll follow up with the link you posted between turkey basting expeditions!
Again,
Thanks so much
Ken
