Anyone else in the UK having problems getting to the forum and www.weather-watch.com in general this evening?
Very slow pages and sometimes no connection.
A Traceroute seems to indicate problems with asuk.net?

sod’s law says 5 minutes after posting all seems well again now - a glitch in the grand scheme of things it would seem.
10 minutes ago I could not connect, now is OK
That’s where the server lives (it’s in Reading).
The site was down again about 15 minutes ago, some strange message about arrays was all I could see. Site was available but not providing any output.
The latest outage was my fault. For those interested in the gory details…
Due to the web worm that krelvinaz mentioned I decided to check if I needed any server components upgrading. A new version of PHP (4.3.10) was available so I did that upgrade. Unfortunately I also use Zend Optimiser and the combination of the forum software, PHP (4.3.10) and Zend (2.5.1) wasn’t happy. I only discovered that Zend was likely to be a problem after 10 minutes of frantic searching the web! Luckily the latest version of Zend (2.5.7) has fixed the problem, so everything should be back to normal now.
Let me know if you see any problems that weren’t there before.
i was wondering about this site after reading my email alerts on viruses and how it attacks certain forums software.
i think its time for the death penalty for virus writers!
I think that catching a significant number of virus authors and locking them up for a while might stem the flow a little. However I suspect that many of the recent viruses are aimed at ‘commercial’ spam ventures rather than just the ‘thril’’ of seeing your virus go round the world. Spammers are willing to pay decent money for lists of hacked machines that can be used as hosts for their next spam run
And spam would be greatly reduced if ISP’s would start blocking outbound port 25 (smtp) for dialup, dsl and cable users and force them to use registered mail servers to send email.
A virus would be no big deal if all it did was talk to a port that didn’t send out.
One PC with a spam virus can pump out hundreds of thousands of messages in a single day.
