Problems creating a customised web page

Hi all,
I’m trying to get a customised web page created and uploaded. I have set up a wxlocal.html file with the appropriate tags. Copied it into the webfiles directory. In advanced settings with the override switch on I have set wx.html to be created and uploaded every 15 mins. I also have various other gif files on a similar setting. The other files work just fine - I think.
Using the ‘now’ buttons wx.html is created and uploaded. Leaving it to its own devices the wx.html file fails to create every 15mins, but if one exists (ie after I do a manual create) it will upload ok at the set times.
I’ve tried setting creation and upload times in both the webfiles upload av/ext tab (yes the big switch here is on), but figured that as the override switch is on that all times should be set in that setup page.
So my problem looks to be in the creation side of it. I’ve gone round and round in circles with this, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A sample of the wx.html is at www.larsenz.com/mambo/weather/wx.html

In advanced settings with the override switch on I have set wx.html to be created and uploaded every 15 mins.

Under FTP/Internet Setup, on the Custom web page/Individual dials page I just turned it on. I also ticked Still update and use my normal page so I can have both available on the server. I did not use the advanced settings at all, left it turned off.

hi
check you have times set to create the wxloca.html file to the wx.html file in the customised file creation and upload
i.e you need times set to create and upload that file
check that
(i dont think you need the custom switch ON in the custom web page setup, in the ftp/internet setup, but try that)

All I did was create the wxlocal.htm file in the webfiles directory and then turn on the below. Worked here for me…

hi check you have times set to create the wxloca.html file to the wx.html file in the customised file creation and upload i.e you need times set to create and upload that file

Yes I have the create and upload times both set. Both are every 15 mins.

I have that on - maybe I’ll turn it off in case the 2 are fighting.

Well looks like I fixed it. I created just a wxlocal.html with nothing in it but 2 tags (%temp% and %hum%), no fomatting or colors, and it worked just fine. I had created the original template in MS Front Page and as usual there was a whole load of rubbish at the top of the code, so I removed all the tags and voila. #-o So I guess that something in the template parsing in WD does not like to find the tags.

Hopefully this will help others too

An update to the above…
I now doubt that it was the above at all. It seems that WD may not like a new wxlocal.html file being copied over the old one without a ‘restart’. By which I mean that if I turn off the switch in the setup/control panel/customise internet file creation tab - copy the new template in - then turn that switch on again everything is sweet. #-o

Again hopefully this exercise may help others.

If you are using the :customise internet file and creation… you can untick and switch the button off in the "Custom webpage/induvidual dial images.
But you have to set the override on and set the times for the html files or images.
This works for me and will decrease the cpu load.
