Oregon THC268 Sensor Support

Hi,
I have just download 9.75c, reactivated my THC268 probe and restarted my WMR928N

Only one snag… It does not work :frowning:

WD took several minutes to display other probe readings (I also note the word Wind Chill moves on the display once readings start).

Data indicator flashes to red and no actual reading from Sensor #2 (I have a dual channel therm/humidity on Sensor #1 which works okay).
Reading is okay however on LCD panel of WMR928N

Took batteries out of THC268 and restarted system and all is back to normal.

Any ideas?
Many Thanks

Ian.

Hi Ian,

You might try this. With the batteries in the THC268 press the RESET on the THC268.
On the WMR928N console press and hold [CHANNEL] to enforce an immediate search.
Wait several minutes then see if WD sees the THC268.

The LCD on the Oregon display showed it’s reading okay it’s only WD which did not (device on chn 2).

Plus the Red Data error indications :frowning:

Ian.

i am back from the weekend visiting the olds

i have this working now

it should be OK
(i will update the vers number once I catch up on other things)

thanks

Hi,
It’s okay with 9.76 except for one reading glitch this afternoon where humidity went from 96% to 0% and dew point went from 48f to 31.9f the reading then returned to normal.

I’ve just downloaded 9.76a and will report on it’s behaviour.

Many Thanks

Ian.

i will add a 0 % hum reject reading then …

please try a new 9.76a
thanks

Brian,
I’m now on the latest 9.76a

All seems well except the “Data Quality” indicator flashes sometimes to red rather than it always being green.

Without the THC268 the indicator always remained green.

Ian.

Brian,
Now on 9.76b and still get the red data error indication.

Also the THC268 is now sometimes indicating 31.9f when it’s really 98f (on a central heating radiator).

For a few hours during the night it indicated correct but installing 9.76b has caused it to be in error again :frowning:

Ian.

humm, i have not changed anything …in the latest vers
but i will do some testing here ,…and hopefully fix

Version 9.76b - Had similar problem… Data Quality stayed red, however, the data received was flashing as usual. I was getting about 1/2 of the sensors. I went into Station setup and switched to the WMR918, and set it, then back to the WMR968 and the data quality started working again.

Still getting data errors and humidity down to 0%

Not quite related but I’m trying a ESP901 Serial Server on my Weather Station.

This gadget turns RS232 into IP and you then run a virtual com port driver on your pc which effectliy gives you access to the serial device plugeed into your network.

Thus you can have the base station a long way away from your PC.

http://www.bb-elec.com if of interest.

P.S.
I get the data quality errors with or without this gadget.

Ian.

i wil have another look at this this afternoon, just heaging out to do some farm work

i have made improvements
its working OK here (and i will keep it running)
vers 9.76d, ready now

Brian,
Sorry on the new version 9.76d but problem persists.

Humidity shot down for one reading to 0% and extra probe reporting 31.9f

Data Quality indicator still changing briefly to red :frowning:

Ian.

ok, i have some more work to do…
after I uploaded the new verison, which was working, i did another test, and it did not work…
i will get there (the probelm is the shorter data length, and i am thinking maybe a different header too even,

i have figured it out!
it was a different header
a new 9.76c, ready now , is working perfect!

have it confirmed from someone that I do indeed have finally nailed this sucker
:drinking:

Brian,
Yes I think you have cracked it
Managed to load latest version at 07:00 this morning and just got home at 21:30 and all readings okay with constant green data quality indicator.

Full moon today and I note the 100% text goes slightly into the border graphic of the top box on the web page upload. See http://www.hummer.co.uk/weather/

Many thanks for your help

Ian.
