I recently upgraded from WD 10.13e to 10.13x. Now I cannot get WD to read my base station data. I have a WS 2315 and selected WS2310/WS2315
hi
is the data receieved light flashing?
what does it say across the top of the program?
any errors under view, program error log?>
this user has a ws2310 and 10.13x, and its OK…so thats something…

Thanks. Data received light is solid red. Top of program reads
Hi
ok, so, if the data receieved light is not flashing, then that either means the correct com port is not selected, or some other software is using the com port (which is not likely as it says com port OK)
but also, though, go to setup, control panel, data logger setup, and do you have it ticked there to extract data at start up?
but, also, try just restarting WD, and wait say 30 seconds, then restart…it might just have misfired in getting the ws2310 synced up
Okay, WD was already set to extract at program startup. I shut down 1 minute and restarted nothing so far still solid red for data rec.
is the com port numbers selected correct still?
one thing to try/test:
install to a new location (with the installer (i.e select/create a new directory)
then in that directory, save a file with notepad.exe called 2wd
(so that it gets called 2wd.txt)
then start wd in that directory
it then should start up like brand new…no settings…you will have to set it up again (i.,e com port, weather station type)
and then see what happens
but, also, do you have ticked, wireless option for the ws2310 in the weather station type setup(if so try not having that ticked and then restart wd)
Brian: WD is collecting data from the logger again. You asked me to check the com port so I checked and com 1 was selected (which is the correct setting), for grins I checked com 2 and then com 1 again without hitting OK. Then the data started streaming. Why? Thanks! This software is superb.
some how you managed to jiggle the comport free…by doing that…
thats computers for ya!
(they do strange things sometimes)

live data once again!
for me it’s the same > got a WS2315 and need by restart to play with the com settings.

hi
sometimes the sync up process can take a bit of time if it has mis synced,…i.e WD will start again.,…and it might take a minute or 2…
as long as the data received light is flashing, wd is still trying to sync/wake up the weather station
yes/no?
I have found that the data lights never light even if I wait 30 mins. I have to play with com port setting to get it to work. Have v10.14j…amybe it has been fixed in a newer version.
hi
must be something else…and to do with the com port,…
i do not have a problem here with my ws2310 i have here
i have seen a few other reports of this issue, but for 99% of people its ok
any errors under view, program error log?
Just this but I think it is related to my edits of the logfile…
Resetting rain daily value , day: 12
Resetting wind/temperature daily value , day: 12
Now that I know how to kickstart the data transfer, I don’t mind the one extra step.
Thx Brian,
Jeff
that is normal information in the program error log 8O
so its not that then
Well I’m glad that it isn’t just me, or my WS2315 but receiving data from WS2315 is a frustrating exercise
I have used the rather limited software that comes with the WS2315, and have used VWS. While neither of these programs offer as many features as WD, they are at least stable. It appears that if I attempt to change settings in WD, it stops communicating with the WS2315. If I have to restart my PC for any reason, it is a coin toss to see if it will establish communication with the WS2315 again.
Some times stopping and starting WD will get things going again, some times restarting my PC will do it… arrrrrrrg! Then sometimes it just stops.
I wish I had some belief that these problems are solveable as I really like the feature rich WD program. I have about 25 days before I must register and I certainly don’t want to purchase an application that I needs constant attention just to keep it going.
I have also had some out of range readings in the middle of the night. WS2315 is wired, and PC is on UPS. Again, arrrrrrg I really like this program, but it MUST prove itself reliable before I invest in it.
