I have just installed WD on new pc with microsoft XP operating system.
I will like to activate the weather talk funktion but no success.
All the switches is activated.
When i check out the select speech driver nothing is detected!
Could that be the case?
No sound at all, but the text string appears in the voice output window.
I take a look at the download page for the speech driver.
But i am still not sure of this, itโs seem like the drivers there are for win 95/98 systems.
Iโam using a win xp system, which of the files do i need for the xp system?
Ok at the pc, but not at my website
In the Weather talker setup:
I check:
inklude a link to the talking file on my web
Upload the mp3 file istead off the Wav file
Create a mp3 file (use lame.exe)
When i push the link that was made on my website windows media player starts and try to play a file called talkingnew2.
But it will not play the file, the player try to open the file but it stops.
At one time I had to enable custom talk to get the custom talk file to work.
I needed both main switches on for the file to be created and uploaded. Does the custom file work that is on the computer drive? There is a button on the setup page play file. Remember custom speech is not the same as custom file for speech is. they have separate buttons and upload times.
I found that MP3 creation did not seem to work so I stuck with the WAV file.
The file that actually seems to hold the speech is talkingnew.wav and not talkingnew2.wav (which is always empty) - explore the wdisplay folder on your PC and you should see the files there.
In the end I decided to use the custom FTP upload function to upload talkingnew.wav at my chosen times (5 minutes past each hour as the speech file is created on each hour).
As I use a custom webpage to show the weather data, it was a matter then of putting a link to talkingnew.wav on my server. But if you use the default page generated you could always add a link in datahtm0.txt.
