I’d like to upgrade Weather Display Live to the latest version of Flash. This would give better graphing and ‘future proof’ WDL for the forseeable future. The graphing component has lots of nice new features but this version of WDL would require viewers to have Flash Player 7. Should I upgrade?

When was the latest version of Flash released? I seem to have the latest version, but if it’s only been out a few months, then it might be better waiting a while.
It was released nearly a year ago I think. Penetration of v7, as of last June, according to Macromedia is
US 66.7%
Canada 75.3%
Europe 81.0%
Asia 76.9%
That was 4 months ago so it should be better now.
Penetration for v6 is
US 94.1%
Canada 95.8%
Europe 96.4%
Asia 92.4%

will there not be a link to click on to upgrade to the latest version of flash though or similar?
Yes. If WDL is upgraded to latest Flash then I would recommend that users use the little script at the above link to redirect visitors without the appropriate version. Of course you could still display on the redirect page the previous version of WDL - as well as the link to the new!

at first i had a link shown to update to the latest flash version
i just had to go to the download section on the flash web site, download and install
and then restart the browser…and all done
