Need help with new installation. Wind data not displayed

Hello Weather-Watchers,
I need some help getting started.
My system is the basic AAG 1-Wire Weather Instrument Kit V3. I have been using the software from AAG with no problems but really want to start posting weather info to my web site.

I installed the WD software last night. The installation process seemed to work fine. After setting the port and “system type” and doing the “save and reset” WD was able to read and display the temperature. But, the wind direction and speed indicators are not moving or showing any indication that the values are being read.

I restarted the software to see if that would help. After a restart there were no measurements (not even temperature) being displayed. I went into the port config window, didn’t see anything wrong, and when I exited the window (without making any changes). As soon as I exited the port setup window the measurement display started updating the temperature display again but not wind data. Hmm. I repeated this process of closing the program and restarting several times with the same results.

What am I doing wrong?
Is there a log file I can look at that may show me some error messages?
Is there a place in the WD software to calibrate the wind direction?

you need to allocate the wind speed switch i button found to the wind speed rom ID code, and the same for the temperature, in the dallas 1 wire setup, and then click on save/reset

surely there must be other benefits, like all the graphing, in WD, other than just getting the data onto a web site, compared to the original dallas software?

I have already allocated the windspeed switch to the ROM ID.
The window has the following printed in it:
Humidity i-button found, ID DA000000154F8226
Humidity i-button allocated to, ID DA000000154F8226
Temperature i-button found, ID 9200080014163F10
Station temperature i button allocated to 9200080014163F10
Switch (windspeed or rain or lightening counter) i-button found ID A300000001645A1D
Wind speed found and allocated: A300000001645A1D

Here are some other possible clues:
When I open the “Comm Port Setup” program my computer beeps at me.
After, and only after, doing the Comm port setup && running the “Units and Other Settings” program, I get a display of the temperature.

Based on a comment found in the help file for 1-wire setup I also made sure the “Offset” values were set.

Still no Wind data displayed. :frowning:

“surely there must be other benefits” Yes, but, there is not enough space in this little window to list all the other great looking features. If only I had some data to display in the wonderful graphs.

More info,
As soon as WD comes up the “Data Quality” block is green and the “Data Received” block is blinking green. So, WD thinks it is getting data but NOTHING is displayed. :frowning:

HI
I have a dallas 1 wire version 3 station here
Email me your settings file, wdisplay.ini , from c:\windows or c:\winnt
and I will do some testing
also, post here the whole contents of that dallas 1 data info window
thanks

Hello Brian,
I sent you my INI file and some screen captures that may help.
Regarding the “contents of that dallas 1 data info window”, that was the entire contents of the window. However, If I go directly to the 1-wire setup program when WD comes up, there are some message about it looking and re-looking for the i-buttons.
Thanks,
Dan

roll I had to reinstalll my system after a HD failure and now WD does not work. I was running WD fine using ver 10.10f , tracking and posting the data to UW site. I am using Windows XP Pro OS.

I see the 1-wire devices intermittently and the data quality is green and data received lites are green and blinking, but nothing is displayed or logged.

When I connect the station to my Linux (LindowsOS 4.5) system it works fine , all devices indicate the correct values. Using OWW -0.80.1 software.

On the Windows system using the ibutton viewer, I see all the 1-wire devices and can read all the correct data values. ,but WD will not run. Currently I am trying version 10.10L,

What do you think. Sent my wdisplat.ini to Brian to see what he thinks !!

Thank for any advice

When I connect the station to my Linux (LindowsOS 4.5) system it works fine

“I do very little windows any more”

Excuse me will I do my happy Linux dance
              :sign1: :rightfighter5:

anyways… There is a Linux version of Weather Display, while the 1-wire are not currently supported, it may be in the future :happy6:

that is correct, I don’t have any info on your problem…

"I see the 1-wire devices intermittently and the data quality is green and data received lites are green and blinking, but nothing is displayed or logged"
That sounds like the same problem I was having with 10.10i. Ended up deleting the INI file in the Windows directory and reinstalling WD. If I had more time I would compare the old and new INI files. Good luck to you.

i have found dlmorrrow problem, he had at some point setup to use a dallas 1 wire as well, in the comport setup…i think that will be it…
but you need to set as stationless to be able to untick those settings…and then back as a dallas 1 wire again
