Moving to Drive E on new computer problem

I followed the sgeps outlined in the FAQ and the data and setup looked fine and the program was registered. I edited the wdisplay.ini to change location to E and the wdisplayftp.ini likewise. I then double clicked wdisplayftp.ini to update the registry. I got the correct port setting in and changed the location of the files in the other setting. But no download occures.

The last sentence of the FTP “…or change all the file and drive references in WD once started with the setting files from the other PC.” Could someone explain what that means.

Meanwhile I continue to operate OK on my other system. Perhaps I should delete all the WD files on the new drive and system and start over in the AM.

Thanks for your help.\

Hank

set the webfiles location to where needed (i.e drive , directory) under control panel, web files/web page setup
and also set the client raw location there as well
then also set the logfiles and data files location under setup, advanced/misc

then restart WD
no need to alter the settings files directly

OK. Are you saying to start over and delete the changes I made. and start over with the changes you suggest? Copy to to E disk and change the settings?

Lots of rain here, about 2 inches today but still 30 inches under season normal.

Hank

my suggestion is to do as I have suggested, thats all

set the webfiles location to where needed (i.e drive , directory) under control panel, web files/web page setup and also set the client raw location there as well then also set the logfiles and data files location under setup, advanced/misc

then restart WD

Brian,

I’ve the same problem and I did what you suggested plus I opened the wdisplayftp.reg using notepad++ and changed all the files to the required path. Everything in WD is working nice except ftpupd.exe and clientrealtimeftp.exe. No upload and a error message from Windows appear.

What have I done wrong?

Thanks in advance for the support,

JanvR

ftplog.txt (2.74 KB)

programerrorlog.txt (415 Bytes)

need more information
like is the D drive the correct drive , or?

Yes, that’s right.

Old situation: WD on the E: drive.
I did a backup of the registry in WD.
I moved WD from the old pc tot the new one conform the faq: “Moving WD to a new computer.”
I copied the full WDdirectory to the D: drive of the new one
I checked the wddisplayftp.reg with notepad++ and changed all the lines with drive E: to drive D:.
After this all functions does work troublefree include receiving data from the Davislogger. But the uploading with ftpupd.exe and clientrealtimeftp.exe doesn’t work and an WinXP errormessage appears.
In FTP/internet Setup and Custom Internet and File creation Setup the file locations are good.

Now I hope that you have the info you need.

Cheers, JanvR

have you tried restarting WD?
also check your firewall is not blocking the ftp programs

Hi Brian,

I had upgraded WD with the newest exe-file already. But I upgraded yesterdayevening with the newest zip-file and now WD has worked errorfree this night.
You can understand I’m very happy now.

My new weather-pc is a Eeepc. I deteleted all the unnecessary software and installed only WD and an AV-program. I hope this is a good combination so that we can safe a lot of energie. 8)
