MDD hosting

Not sure why you can’t get into the forum. I do not have a forum account and have not tried signing into my MDD account and have no trouble reading the forum from this link.

I was hoping to be back up too, but since I was already having problems with my site (starting to look like a WD FTP problem of some kind as I watched the log files implode) …

I do feel for the guys at MDDhosting. I know what it feels like to make a small mistake that can/has horrible consequences (medical field). It doesn’t help those affected feel any better, but we are all human.

Hi Niko, I can read the posts in the forum, but cannot log in, so I tried to open a new account but I have not have any reply from them. Tarma, like I just posted I can read the forum but not post, I have sent then some tickets & they have replied, saying, ( I can re-create your account empty on the server which will resolve this issue - you can then put anything you like temporarily in the account / recreate email addresses / etc. When we go to restore the backup we have of your account it will overwrite this temporary account. If this works for you, let me know, and I’ll get it created.

Thank you,)

They have also sent me a email all about the company & how his two sons are going to work with him when they grow up, bla bla bla, etc. I wondering if the MDD has been hacked or some thing like that, we will have to wait & see. I backed up/copied everything that was on MDD sever onto my PC one day last week so I have not lost to much if they lose it all.

I saw the text of that letter. I think it’s genuine and just the product of too little sleep and the extreme stress of seeing this dumb disaster hit what he intended to be his life’s work.

Still, life must go on. e-rice taught me the importance of having a local back up of my website. If the site was really important to me I would probably have moved, at least temporarily, to another host at this point :dontknow:

My site is not back, but I can see the progress in my account access.
I read that letter as a heartfelt apology from an exhausted person. I am sure I would be a lot more frustrated if my business depended on my sites, but I will be sticking with MDDhosting.

Right, I have given MDD a hard time & they have got me back up & running I think, I can access the site by clicking on my banner on here & a few other places, but if you go to google all it shows is the sorry page. I have looked at the" PUBLIC_HTML" with FileZilla & it is filling up slowly, but seems that they have lost 8/9 years of data, I’m glad that I copied all the files etc. last week, so I can put them back in there. All I have to do is get rid of the sorry page that is showing, they sent me a email about changing name severs & a temp blank account but not sure what they have done, watch this space.

your site is loading for me OK now
why would you give them a hard time, when they explained what happened and what they are doing etc

http://auburnweatherlive.com/ is back now.

Sounds like another day or so for mine. Oh well, such is life.

May be not a hard time but I told them that I did not want that other website shown when someone tries to go to my site, or click on any of my links or on other forums etc. & asked them to remove it ASAP. I also told them that I wanted my site back up & running as soon as poss. so I did not lose any of my regular visitors. I’m not really interested about how when his children grow up how the are going to run the company etc. At the moment it looks like they have lost all the all data that was on the there server, I do have a back up of all the files/folders & pictures that were on there last week so the site should be working as normal when I upload all the missing files/folders etc. They have asked me what files are missing & I told them about 8 years worth, they have not come back to me as yet. I also told them that I’m not moaning but I just wanted the site back up & running.

I can now get onto the forum & sign in, so that’s working, logged into cpanel & it looks like all my email accounts have gone, not the end of the world but annoying, so getting they slowly.

This should be a prompt for everyone that has hosting, anywhere, and that is to do regular full backups of your files!

I did back up all files/folders last week so I should be OK, I have asked them about all the missing files/folders twice & about the email accounts & some other stuff but they have not said any thing about missing files etc. but have answered the other questions. I do not want to upload my back up files in case that screws every thing up, at the moment the site is running on a basic level.

Tarma’s http://www.weberweather.com/ is back.

They are all slowly coming back, sorted mine out as regards to the still displaying the sorry/ 404 page, I cleaned out the cache & I can now get to the site from google. Just need to restore the files & folders so the site will work like it should, but I’m holding back with that in case it screws up the system, my server is “S4” that should be all back to normal I think on Wednesday, if not I will upload my backup, this is very much like when Erice when down.

Except that e-rice never came back…

That’s true, it’s a shame that it went it worked & it was very cheap.

It is good to be back! Now to see if the FTP errors start again or if there is a silver lining to this disaster for me.

We are over 50% back online - 51.4% actually. Most of this has happened within the last 24 hours - we are really hopeful to be back online fully within the next 24.

It does appear they have greatly accelerated the restore process compared to when they started 4 days ago.

Mine should be all done tomorrow.

http://www.halethorpeweather.com and http://jcweather.us are back, I think that’s everyone
