I’m investigating.

  1. The database is up and doesn’t seem to be having any problems.
  2. The download/processing script is running and not reporting any errors.

Next thing to check is that the download script is saying it can’t see any data for the 00z run on 10th November. I’m wondering whether there’s a file/directory naming change on the NWS server that I’ve missed seeing the notification about.

Looks like neither gfs or ECMWF data has updated on the data page

As I was investigating what was wrong the script started to download the 00z run data. I’d only been passively looking at data/files by this stage, so no data was updated or scripts changed at my end.

So, I’m going to assume there was something wrong with the GFS data available for download. Either a missing file or a network issue.

The download is now complete and the data is being processed. The 00z data should be available in less than 10 minutes.

As it appears to be processing both lots of data that may by a bit optermistic

The 00z ECMWF data is a little late running today, but it’s currently processing. I didn’t look at/touch the ECMWF data/scripts at all and the 00z run kicked off automatically, so I’m still thinking outside influences.

It suggests a problem nearer to me, perhaps a network outage at/near the my hosting provider? It may be that my code to check if the data is ready to download responds that it’s not ready whatever the reason is, e.g. I get the same response if the file I’m looking for isn’t available because it’s just not on the server, or if there’s a network failure that means it can’t be accessed. Both of those mean the same thing as far as my scripts are concerned, so I may not have tried to differentiate between the two.

As I typed the 00z GFS data became available. ECMWF should follow shortly.

ECMWF 00z data is now available.
