Main Graph is not updating on XP Pro since V9.93a

Hi Brian,
I have been waiting to see if this would be fixed but am now using 9.93e and the problem persists. The main graph is not updating (flat lining). This is for all data lines (top and bottom graphs) except for indoor temp and humid. Rain may or may not be affected, no rain here for a while. The real time graphs are updating correctly though. All digital data to the left are updating. I should also mention that this XP system is getting data from a Win98 system via server/client (but do not think this is causing the problem)… I set up another Win98 system to act as a client to see if this happened and it did not (ie the graph updated normally). So it seems to be only on the XP system. Never had this problem before.

there most likely will be an error under view, program error log
let me know what that is
and or try:
action, import log files, convert wed log files to graphs, and then select 102003lg.txt and click on convert, to reset/update the graph files
(note 9.94 now has improved the convert graph (data) file to log file

Emailed log file. Tried 9.94 with same results.

do you have real time ftp java dials in use under setup, web files setup, real time ftp?

now, the graph not updating:
check, under setup, general and misc, you do not have ticked share the datafiles

all else fails, email me your settings:
wdisplay.ini from c:\windows or c:\winnt
and export wdisplayftp.ini from the registry

In trying to troubleshoot this lack of graph history problem on my XPpro system I started loading older versions of WD. Went back as far as V9.80 and still had the graph problem.

One thing I did notice is that some place around v9.90 the main graph became larger but looked worse… The graphics we not clean and the fonts messy. This continues to the present version V9.94.

But, to continue, with the graph not updating I then reloaded V9.94 and again the graph did not update. I closed down WD on both systems (Win98-WD Server and WinXP-WD Client) and copied everything in the logfile subdir from the server to the client system and restarted both. The graph on the WinXP-WD Client now updates. So I assume there was a logfile issue. Just don’t know what is causing these problems on the XP system.

Hi Brian,
Yes that was checked. Not sure when… I unchecked it.
Looks like we posted within a minute of each other just now.
Do you think that caused this graph problem?
Again, thanks for the help.

yes, that will fix it
I am not sure how that is geting ticked…it seems like some version some time ago may have done that, or something like that
quite a number of people have had that happen, that is why i got you to check that setting
re the graph look:
also see under general and misc, use large screen, stretch the graph…turn that off

Guess I spoke too soon. The graph is not updating. I saw activity on the far right of the graphs and thought it was working.

I checked the share setting you mentioned and it is checked no for datafiles and logfiles. Is this correct? I have never changed this…

I will email you my settings as requested.

Thanks again.

OK Brian,

I did have the graph setting set for large. Have changed that and the graph looks better but I do like the idea of the graph being larger to fill up the space but it just does not look clean.

I emailed you the ini and reg files requested.
Dave

it was a simple quick and dirty “solution” to just stretch the image, that some people might find OK , thats all
(its not on by default)

Still trying to get the main graph to graph.
Searched all my computers for the oldest version of WDisplay I could find.
Found V9.65b dated 15Mar03. Installed it and the graphing is back. Ran for one hour. Then rebooted (complete shutdown) the XP system and restarted. The graphing is still going on. I will keep this running for another hour or so then will reinstall V9.94 to see if it stops graphing.

The Rainfall in Last hour problem (see post related to this) has changed its M.O. It is now not updating every minute at the :00 by adding the 0.012" but displays at reboot 0.031"… (again it is not raining) So I think that is just in a data logfile someplace… I will refresh my logfiles from the Win98 server later after I see if V9.94 continues to cause graphing problems. Just do not want to add another variable to this troubleshooting process.

you must have missed my email
download a new 9.94
i was able to duplicate it, but i have fixed it

Hi Brian,

I downloaded the updated V9.94 you posted and installed it. It has been 1 hour and I can see that the graphing is working again on the Main graph.

Thanks for you quick work. I know it is spring there and you have much work to do…

Thanks again,
Dave

Forgot to mention. When I was running V9.65b, the second active program icon did not show up in 4 hours… But with V9.94 it is back in less than 20 minutes. If I place the cursor over it the following is displayed:
Weather Display - V9.94 - Registered
