Hi
WD doesn’t seem to handle location over 67 deg. (Arctic circle) north (or south). This is latitudes where total darkness and 8) midnight sun appears. That should be handled…? With “no sunrise” or “no sunset”.

Hi
I have this working now
in a new 10.21p zip version , uploading now
it will be ready to download in about 1 hour from now
in the sun/moon setup, tick to use greater than 67 lat
and set the needed latitude and longitude there, and then click on update now
then click on OK
Brian,
I know you fixed this issue for above 67 degrees latitude, however, my WD (10.22n) still fails to ftp when I have my lat and longitude entered as they should be.
The only time I can get a correct sunrise/sunset and have the FTP function work right is when I enter any latitude value of 60 degrees North or less. Why this also affects the FTP function is unknown but it does. So, between 60 and 67 degrees, there seems to be a problem. I’m at 64.92N, 147.94W.
Could you take a look at this problem sometime?
thanks
hi
so, there is most likely an error under view, program error log, about the lat/long, which will then stop the ftp upload??
i have added ability to use a new calcuation for the sunrise/set…have you tried that?
try it and let me know if that works correct?
Hi
i have added a new routine now…for sunrise/set at higher latitudes…
just set that (the lat/long) in the sunrise/set setup, and tick to use it
Hi
It still seems to be some more here. Latitude over 70 deg shows “nigh time” in the current condition text even at daytime. In fact it is “daytime” 24H a day (“midnight sun”) there now. The best would probably be to change the text sunrise 00:00 and sunset 00:00 with the text like “Sun never sets” or “Sun never rises” when this occur. Or may be the date for the next sunset or sunrise.

Hi
This doesn’t seem to work properly yet. If you look at the bottom of this page, Weather Data, you will see that the sun rises 07:56 and sets 20:04. In the graphic below that, it says sunrise 00:00 and sunset 00:00. The sun never sets in this area now. The user has ticked “Force daytime always…” in the sun/moon window in control panel.
I do not know how the formula will be, but I suppose it is possible to make a function which require longitude, latitude, date and time as input and then gives time of sunrise, sunset or “sun never sets” or “sun never rises” as output.

ottar:
Can you post your actual latitude/longitude? Would help anyone testing this.
Of course. Here they are :Lat: 69:22 (N) and Long: -20:18 (E).
Just out of interest I used my solar calculator script to see what it gives and it shows non-zero max expected solar values for the whole 24 hours, so at least my formula works for your location. This in turn should mean that WD is correct in the solar calculations since Brian copied my formula. It would seem that there is just a problem with the sunrise/sunset formula.

hi
i will do some testing/fixing today
and then set, never sets if wd finds that is the case
this updated version will be OK:
