Tried to install libusb 1.0.1-4 from Tasksel / Aptitude but it is already installed.
We need to buy a couple more for a dev project but would like to get this one running successfully first. I suppose we could use 4.03 to develop on but down the road we would want to be using a current OS hence the reason for 5.0. Anyhow I would have thought it fair to say what works with 4.03 ought to work with 5.
Only thing about the install I did was tell it not to install any packages as we want it very light (we might end up wanting to use something much smaller) and only need enough to run WD at this stage. Perhaps if I let it install the standard packages set up it might work.
As I said in the first line of my 1st post “D5.0Beta2 (as recommended by Martin Michlmayr)” although I did ommit to say the ARMEL ver as recommended  As Martin M recommended using that version and who am I to argue with him. Especially as it is due for imminent stable release.
Out of curiosity what is the problem with the EL version as it seems once V5 is released stable it will only be the EL version?
Quite happy to back to 4.0.3 if ever I can find an Upslug that will work on SuSE 10.3 (the links to OpenSuSEfactory all see to be broken) :angry6:
But to take the project forward it certainly could do with porting to V5 as soon as poss because 4 will no doubt become unavailable. Lets keep an eye open and give it a whirl when the opportunity arises.
I just got my WMR928N station and tried to install WD Console on my Ubuntu amd64. Get exactly the same errors as here. Any ideas how to get WD to work? Results from the file-command:
/bin/ls: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), for GNU/Linux 2.6.8, dynamically linked (uses shared libs), stripped
./consolewd: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), not stripped
Sorry for being a bit vague in my post. It’s a 64 bit (Intel-if I remeber correctly) PC, running Ubuntu Server Edition. Why I posted in this thread was that I got the exact same errors when trying to run WD.
The current compiled linux versions will not work on a 64 bit Linux OS
as they instead need to be compiled by the 64 bit version of the compiler on a 64 bit Linux OS PC
which I do not have
I’m running into the same problem after having loaded the ARM version from 29 November 2008,
~/armconsolewdfiles$ ./GoWdconsole.sh
./GoWdconsole.sh: line 27: ./consolewdarm: No such file or directory
~/armconsolewdfiles$
New install, using Debian 5 on the NSLU2 with a USB Flashdrive
~/armconsolewdfiles$ ls -l

I think the file timestamp is probably a TZ thing since I downloaded it just now and it shows the same time, (6:20)
Loading this on an NSLU2 running Debian etch seems to work ok, but then it was already running an earlier version of consolewd so don’t think that really proves much.
Well, I dithered between upgrading to Lenny or not when I was was forced to reinstall Debian on my NSLU2, and now I regret it :x Is there no resolution to this problem, as I would prefer not to have to go through another 4 hour install just yet.
The Debian Project is pleased to announce the official release of Debian GNU/Linux version 5.0 (codenamed “Lenny”)
Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 “Lenny” includes the new ARM EABI port, “armel”. This new port provides a more efficient use of both modern and future ARM processors. As a result, the old ARM port (arm) has now been deprecated.
The consolewd build for the slug is ‘arm’ so it won’t work on debian 5 - You need debian 4…
