What is involved for a lightning counter?
Do you need a weather station that supports it??
Or do they come as a ‘stand alone’ unit that plugs directly to the computer??

I am using a 1-wire lightning detector. It will work with any wx station. You plug it into a spare serial port. In my case it is in a usb to serial converter port.
