Layout Utility

Do you know what could be REALLY handy. I small utility that can edit the XML file that WDL reads.

It can be a pain in the but to keep on adjusting the numbers in the XML file and then reloading the flash file (which can get rather time consuming) and checking to see if you have the correct values.

Something like the Samrize (www.samurize.com) editor will be a good idea of where to start from. This program does something rather similar. For this you could select from the different types of available instruments and text box’s etc etc.

Might be worth something Julian… What do you all think??

It’s been on my list of things to do ever since v2 was launched but it’s not a small project. :frowning: I might be able to do something basic but time is always a problem with a full time job and a young family.

Viewing changes to the config can be quicker if you use the Flash projector version of WDL as described in the configuring WDL guide.

Julian

For editing my changes i use cooktop 2.5 (beta). when i had the wierd issue of snow data blowing out the other settings in wdl. I used to make sure i wasnt mistyping something in notepad.

Considering what WDL costs, I would have no problem paying extra for the WDL Editor module. I think it would be a good OPTIONAL “add on”, since it is not necessary. You may then see a lot more configurations showing up on the board.

i could produce a program that does it…
i.e a what you see is what you get layout on the screen, which then updates all the cor-ordinates etc needed…
but no time before xmas
