La Crosse data report / history extraction

humm, he is using 9.98d

humm, i hope i have not blown that up

re the data logger, data, etc

i will have to try and get the console i have here going to test…
maybe 2 nite

Actually, the console humidity of 90% was reporting 96% on WD as of 18:00 hours on version 9.97h.

I installed version 9.98d at 22:00 hours. It remains at 96% on WD as of 00:55. You can see it on my www.

Herb

not sure why you have that occuring herb, no other reports of that at the moment

now, i need someone to be able to tell me the wires to connect up to get the serial connection to the pc working
i know its only 2 wires, but which 2 pins!

i managed to find this info on a german BBS
Here the circuit for a WG 2300/2305 cable connection to the PC. From the front on the 4-Pol-Westernstecker seen, cables to the rear, contacts upward, rest tongue downward. of on the left of above 1 to the right above 4: Western > 9-Pol Sub D ---------------------------------------------
1 > 5 = mass
2 > 3
3 > 2
4 > |<| 4
|
|-|<| 7

into row with Western Pin4 to the 9-Pol Sub D 2 diodes type come: universal 1N4148 (black ring (+) to the Westernstecker) one of Sub D Pin4, one of Sub D Pin7. Much success with the reproduction Woelfchen

i.e the use of 2 diodes are needed to pin 4 and 7 of the male 9 pin serial plug i presume

maybe i have the wrong spec diodes

i got it to work!
I changed the diodes to some others

Good news!
I fixed it.
Version 9.89e beta
uploading now
will be ready in 2 hours or less from now

it was just 2 lines of code, I had a extra begin/end bracket and a section of code was not being executed. I found the bug by comparing with the Linux version code

see my hot wire fix to get the data from the spare console I had!

Hi Brian,

I just finished installing 9.98e.
I went back to gather the 10 minutes of data during the install time.
This time it reported gathering 10 minutes of data, the gathering meter started to fill but then the screen closed.

The program error file reports history stages, history raw #s, and finished history data. The problem now is where did the data go?
I looked at 122003lg.txt after it started to do it’s normal 1 minute updates, but the gathered data is not there.
Also the main graph does not have it either, just padded data for the 10 minutes. When you tested it, where did the data go? Is there another step to import it somewhere?

My humidity reporting problem fixed itself at 0420 while I was sleeping.
It had been wrong for 10 hours but is OK now. See, if I leave things alone, they work out right. I wouldn’t worry about that one right now.

Nice job on the interface cable. By the looks of it, you will need a bit more practice before selling them commerically. The ends look great. It’s the middle that needs a bit more work.

Herb

when i tested, the graph was filled in ok…and the logfiles were updated OK too
dont use the pad the data feature, under setup, general and misc, if you have that ticked…

thanks for the funny on the cable…i need some humour

one thing it might be herb, is the raw barometer reading might be too low for wd to accept it…
do you live at altitude?
you can set a baro offset, for the extracted data, in the 2310 data logger setup

I so have to post a pic of my labjack birdsnest one day! lol

I’ll try the 98e here later today and see how the data extraction goes for me, might be useful to know…

Brian,

Perfect. Well done.

I had “pad data” ticked and didn’t know it. It now gets WS310 data and stores it.

Here’s a reward.

Under Setup. “Sun/moon rise/set times” is listed twice.
Both links go to the same setup screen.
You look at it so often that you can’t see the double anymore 8O
You really could use the space, so delete one.

In the help files. How to create a webpage.
Directs us to go to “Setup, Setup FTP” and a Tab that doesn’t exist.
It now has it’s own “Setup, Setup Webfiles/Webpage”.

Also there should be a reference to go to “Setup, Setup FTP” Connections Tab and then directions to fill in Domain, Folder, Username and Password.
And to Turn on the Internet Switch. If not, the webpage will never work.

So what happened to “Cheers, Brian”.
What the heck did you do wrong last year to be “So Sorry”?
If you are trying to change your ways in time for Santa, I think you might be too late. Check with the wife. They always know.

My New Years resolution is to keep an eye on you (non WS2310 user) to
make sure you don’t go shutting anymore features off on us.
With 1001 setup parameters in WD, one or two are sure to get away from you from time to time.

Cheers,
Herb

ah, yes, i added that setup, thinking it was not there already!
yes, a note on the connections page about the main internet switch…

yes, my signature…fixing now

Cheers and Merry X-Mass!

Thanks, I still don’t know how you manage it all. WD is working again with version 9.98f. The only thing left is to figure how to put a heater on the rain gage so that it will work through out the winter. (I know that I’m only asking for trouble  )

Don’t worry about Santa. He has been checking his list and knows who has been naughty or and nice.

Merry Christmas!

I spoke too soon :frowning: Brian, I’m not sure if I should post this here or elsewhere.

WD is running better, thanks! The history extraction seems to be working better and the graphs are now updating. But this morning I clicked on “Extra Daily high / low weather parameters” some of my records are showing a time in the future ?

WD was turned off over night (got to love the kids). This morning I started WD and it got data from 128 mins ago. Data logger is set for 1 min. I just looked in “La crosse data report” and found this:

I’m not sure what that means :?

Any how, Santa was asking what YOU want for Christmas? It must seem that most of what you read in these posts are what we want.

hi
dont worry about those event logs
now, ok, so the date/time it picks up from the data for a daily hi/low being met must sometimes be wrong…
I will check then that its now in the future compare to the pc time…

what dod i want for xmas?
hummm
we are getting good rain here today, and i just had some fertiliser go on the farm 2 days ago, so thats a good early xmas present
but a good kick up the backside will do me, LOL!
We are off to visit my parents for 2 days over xmas
It will be summer, and they have a swimming pool!

re the times in the future:
it will be yesterdays hi/low reading times
so, it means, it ahs not reset them, as the program did not realise it had pased trhough midnight/reset time
i will investigate/fix with the ws2310 i have when i get some time today

Thanks, You’re the best

i have found 1 thing in the code that might help…
will test that
but, also, with only 175 records, and at 1 minute logging (works best with WD system, but if you have it set to 10 minute logging, then set that intercval in the ws2310 logger setup), midnight needs to come around within 175 records of the logging starting to work,i.e if you exited wd more than 175 minutes before midnight, then it wont do the reset…
just a thought…
actualy , come to think of it, i need to increase the time freq updating if the logger interval is say 10 minutes…arrghh…that will open up more worms in the can…
