IP camera suggestion

Going back to the usb camera, the text overlay works fine.

If i put my IP camera link into a browser, that watermark is not there. It only shows in WD, then gets uploaded to my site.

Interesting observation.

I’m wondering if it is some obscure box, enabled by a check, that may not even be on the setup page in question. I know sometimes things I want to change aren’t where I’d expect them. WD is marvelous, a workhorse and such, but sometimes there are things placed on pages that I can’t always follow the logic of doing. But once figured out, it just keeps chugging (efficiently) away for me, year after year.

In webcamcapture, it says the URL to the camera must be HTTP, but I can only find a rtsp url that will work. I wonder if that is what’s causing this strange watermark issue.

Yeah that could be it. It’s definitely a http link. Have a look at my first post and it gives you the format you need for the http link.

Curious so I bought a Reolink RLC-510WA and have it working with WD with no issues. Good image quality for the price of the cam.

Mine is the 510a

Gabba. Your link works fine in a browser but won’t work in wd for some reason. It doesn’t give me no errors but it won’t display the camera.

I think the only difference is you have POE. Here is my setup in WD:

Dan, what url are you using in wd? You can pm me if you want.

A little update. I was running build 123 and I was missing the crongetipcam program. Not sure if thats needed or not from reading some older posts. I downloaded that latest version of WD and the webcamcapture will not open, it just closes right back down. When I try to run the crongetipcam program, nothing happens.

Im back to build 123 for now.

I just tried build 131 and webcamcapture is working. My text overlay is now working with build 131 also. Can now see what that watermark says. Pic attached. Also emailed Brian.

Brian said its $1000 to remove the watermark. I don’t even understand that.

I’m sure what he means is that to buy the software he’s using to do that particular function, and didn’t take the time to re-invent the wheel by writing it himself.

I’m not sure what companies charge for their copyrighted products, but I know years ago we used a print package that would have taken at least weeks to write, and paid something like $300 to use it.

I guess that part i don’t understand is, why isn’t everyone that is using webcamcapture in WD having the same issue while using a IP cam.

which version of webcamcapture are you using

I’ll have to look when i get home, but i think its 10.41

Déjà vu. . . only $200 for that one.

try this version 10.43 which i have been using https://www.hc-iom.co.uk/wd_forum/wdwebcamcapture.zip

Brian said to check the “Use crongetipcam” box but when I do, nothing happens. When i try to run the actual crongetipcam program file in the WD folder, nothing happens there either.

I’m currently running hcorrin’s webcamcapture 10.43 but with no change.

Any chance of a screen capture of the ipcam setup in WD webcamcapture with user name and password overwritten
