Am considering trying Weather-Display with my Davis WM II.
I have had mine for 8 years, and am currently using Weatherlink software with it.
I have had a look round and have tried to see if there is a way of importing my 8 years of data stored with Weatherlink software into Weather Display. If there isnt, then I will definitely stick with Weatherlink (sorry).
Any suggestions anyone?
Jim.
Edit :
PS Have just downloaded and played with the software. Can only find a way of importing 2 days of data under “download.txt” - any way of importing the delimited text data exported by Weatherlink (under the ‘browse records’ menu)? please?!
Have tried importing that data but just got gibberish.
hi
sorry have not got back, was busy shifting houses at the time…
now, it could be possible to convertt the delimted text data
but, the download.txt…can you get that created as 1 month only?
and then we could try and go from there…
email me a sample (zip first)
but the other way is if you can convert it into wd’s log file format, then you can convert those logs files to graph file, via action, convert log files to graph files, in WD
the biggest prblem with weather link and the download.txt is they kept on changing the format of the file, with different weather link versions, and if a sensor data was misisng, then a — was placed in the data point instead, which makes it hard to read in and convert the data…i.e its a bit of a nightmare, and not data user friendly at all…
Hiya… thats ok… forgiven! Gather you’ve been a bit busy lately…
Anyway… the DOWNLOAD.TXT is will only contain 2 days worth of data - it is generated when a download is done. I notice that the order of the data in an exported txt file from the Browse Data facility in Weatherlink is the same as in DOWNLOAD.TXT, except it’s nicely spaced out unlike in the download.txt…
If the wind is calm in any reporting period, the wind direction returns “–” - doesnt mean there is no sensor connected. Just to confuse matters!
Anyway -
Have tried to read in/import a DOWNLOAD.TXT one of these in without success… I just get what seem to be gibberish graphs with seemingly random data.
I have Weatherlink version 4.04 - am thinking that the saved files (and therefore the delimited data) contains fewer fields than those generated by newer versions as the newer versions have compatibility with more sensors.
I notice that there is a tickbox to indicate “From Wlink 5.2+ for the Davis VP” - I have left this unticked as I am on version 4.04 - is this correct?
