I am 23 years of age, from the UK and have recieved my wireless vantage pro weather station today.
I want to have my weather appear “LIVE” on the internet for my viewing while at work, and everybody elses viewing!
A few things:-
I am the standard vantage pro kit, except i have a solar sesnor on its way already. What infomation am i not able to capture with just these sensors?
Also, hosting. I have a yahoo-geocities 15mb web account. What does everyone here suggest for hosting a website.
The VP is very good and with a solar sensor you can measure most parameters. Things you can’t would be UV, soil temp, leaf wetness etc, but that is very much down to how important you consider these to be for your purposes. You can always add these sensors later anyway.
You’ll need an ISP so you can upload your weather data to a webserver. It will almost certainly come with web space so you won’t need to use geocities.
If you are looking for cheap webspace and hosting, I would recommend uk2.net.
They have very good up time, and ftp’ing wd live works well, even when you have uploads going on from two different locations.
I am starting another site with weather from Yaverland sailing centre in the next two to three weeks, so to get you started, you can share some IWW webspace at no charge.
didnt know you would be on here too! looks like i have come to the right place!
Do you know of any weather stations along the south-west coast of the island shaun? Be interesting to get some results of stations out there, gets rather windy there!
Nothing yet along the south west coast, but I hope to install another station of my own in the early part of next year either off of Afton Down, or Brighstone.
I have access to two excellent locations on Farms where we do work.
