Have a look at the clientraw.txt file - you’ll be able to see the description roughly in the middle of it. That will indicate whether it’s a problem with WDL or whether it’s coming from WD like that.
The other option is to use Metars. They are quite easy to setup and generally give a better description.
Julian
Hi
I found out about the metar, so now things are working.
TNX for thr help
MOSTLY GLOUDED
is it really like that?
note that in wd you can set the description of the weather condition…see in the summary image and icon setup…any chance you have changed it?
EEHH
Must be my fat fingers, sorry
I think I got the look I want
Just hanging on the back of this thread as the title is correct. Since connecting my solar thingy I now have nice little clouds and stuff at the top of the WDL page.
Is there any reason why there cannot be an icon for nightime - a moon or something. What happens when it rains after dark do I still get the rainy clouds.
Cant tell at the moment as its sunny and dry here (unlike the rest of the UK)!
there is an icon for night time
works great for me
(it has a moon, etc)
and rain at nigth shows a “dark/night time” rain cloud
do you have your lat/long set correctly so that wd knows its night time?
Hi - Lat and Long are correct… Its now 0% solar - text says Dry/Night time but I get no icons ?..
During the day the cloud and rain icons work fine
and its just started raining and I get the drizzle icons and text that says Moderate drizzle/night time
must be something in your settings
works ok me for me
so, email me your settings (wdisplayftp.reg after going action, back up registry entry now, and wdisplay.ini from c:\windows or c:\winnt)
ah, this is WDL icons you are talking about
WDL does not have a night / clear night icon at this stage
we need to convince Julian thats a good idea
Yes I agree !
OK - I’ll add it to the list!
Julian
Although thinking about this - the problem has always been that ‘nightime’ is not really a weather condition…
Julian
well strictly speaking I suppose the answer is yes. However weather doesnt stop happening at night. Daytime isnt a weather condition either but we display some sort of icon at all times during the day.
I suppose its not possible to calculate the amount of cloud cover from just the non solar variables.
At then end of the day (no pun intended) I would prefer to see just a moon icon rather than nthing at all.
The icon works by looking for keywords in the current conditions text so as long as a weather condition description is displayed it doesn’t matter whether it’s nighttime or not - an icon will still be displayed.
A moon icon would imply to me that it was a clear night.
Julian
Ok… so if the text in the clientraw is blank, could we not have a moon icon, which would then be the opposite of a just a sun icon in the day time?
the other option maybe is for WDL to use the icon number in the clientraw…
(see the clientrawdescrption) …which is based on WD’s icon…
Yes I looked at using the icon number but my artistic ability wasn’t up to generating that number of graphics!

Just found this subject in a search, so hopefully I can get an answer to my question. I notice in the sample WDL on the WD page that there is an icon in the upper right showing the sun obscured by some clouds. My version of WDL shows nothing in that location. I checked the clientraw.txt file and see that the word “Dry” is in the middle; shouldn’t WDL be showing a sun icon, then? If so, what might be wrong with the configuration of WDL on my server? Thanks.
