How to setup a Lightning Sensor?

Hi,
I have a Lightning Detector from Texas Weather Instruments,Inc.
connected to a spare com port with a HA3 adapter.
I have setup WD “Com Port Setup”
“use a Dallas 1 wire sensor, com port,”
“I want to use a Dallas one wire hum sensor”
“my normal weather station has a humidity sensor”
What do I have to check now, so that WD is recognising my lightning sensor,
has any body experience with this kind of sensor and adapter?
I also would like to connect an this HA3 adapter a Solar Sensor, which I have kindly
from Brian, the Solar sensor is a JJ (Jim Jennings). The HA3 has a Phone plug for the
lightning sensor and also some screws and I hope to be able to connect the Solar sensor
on to that
WD is not recognising any of this sensors, I got the message under"Setup Dalas 1 wire sensors"
this message:
No lightening,will reset

What do I wrong?

what I would do is go to www.ibutton.com
or www.dallassemi.com

i think?

and download the ibutton viewer and see if it can find the sensors
(which need to be wired into some Cat5, which is then plugged into the com port adaptor (only 2 wires needed, but you need to get the polarity correct)
Ideally a DS9097U-9 adaptor should be used

Thanks Brian,
I have downloaded the i-button viewer and it has recognised
something’s, it has come up with 3 numbers:
850000001CDD5612 ;
600000001B7C8512; (DS2407)(DS2406)
8E00000000CA7D1D; (DS2423)
on DS9097E
on the top is a green light flashing: 1-wire activity
I have tried all the numbers in the setup 1-wire dallas sensor
but WD is not recognising it, I am sure I have the settings wrong somewhere.

Thanks a lot

thats a good sign
now, in wd, under com port setup, use a dallas 1 wire as well
do you have the com port set as 1 there?
and tick my normal station has a temperature sensor
and my normal station has a humidity sensor

then under view, dallas 1 wire setup
any info there in the big white box?
(try clicking on save/reset)
if so, copy and past here

Thanks Brian, I have done it all, still no good:

what do you have ticked as the port type in the com port setup?
you should have serial ticked

That is right, I have that.
I have tried all kind of settings, no good.

bit of a mystery
one thing to check is that nothing else is using that port…
can you test on another PC?
I should be down your part of the country before xmas visiting some friends so i could call in…

OK, I will give it a try on my Observatory Computer.
If you are in this area, you are most welcome.

Thanks for all,

i think i have asked this before, but what is the name of the com port serial adaptor? i.e type number, serial number or similar
e.g DS9097U-9

It is a HA3
there are two phone type conectors plus one 3 screw conector.

that will be it…WD is not compatible with the point six adaptor then.
You need to be using a DS9097U-9 adaptor.
I have one here I can send you for a small cost.
Email me your address again
