Marian
I would be really fun if we could get WD to talk to this however, I think I can make a script or two to display the data on my website
Hi
Hoping to make the particulate matter sensor
In the next couple of months
Looks a very interesting project hoping somehow to get the data eventually on my website
appreciate any pointers
mick
WD already supports this luftdaten sensor.
Don’t expect too much of the dht22 humidity sensor :
I already used 3 of them in a year and the current one is already showing 100% humidity again.
Mick,
please post your status reports when you do this.
I’m also interested in it - maybe as a “it’s 115F / 46C outside” project.
Ken
II will also be doing one as soon as the sensor arrives.
Should be fun…
Hi
Everyone
Parts on order, will tryout another type of humidity temperature sensor
to use with this project
Hopefully thay will come soon
Update the DHT22 humidity temperature sensor needs a small mod
to get the Humidity sensor to work for a long time with out looking at 100
Will update with some images next week on the DHT22 mod
Mick
any update on the dht22 mod yet
Today the particulate matter sensor arrived in the post
Still waiting for the author pcb
The humidity mod was simple to do and no soldering needed
The problem with the DHT22 sensor is if eny particulars get stuck to the humidity sensor element
The humidity sensor will not work as it should
This is happening because of the air flow
Very carefully cut the housing from around the sides
Remove the top part you will see the humidity element and the temperature sensor
Carefully bend the temperature sensor up so it’s outside the plastic housing
Next you need a peace of filter cloth I stretch this over the top plastic housing covering all
the small air vents then stick it back on, the temperature sensor needs to be visible
With no filter covering over it,
Over time you will need to replace the filter,
Will hopefully tomorrow with post some images
Mick
Update please see image by adding a filter it will stop small particles attaching to the sensor humidity element
which is a very thin coating of an oxide small particles from outside may also contain pollution with could also attack the sensor
Humidity sensors are normally hours in some kind of filter housing, To help with making sensor more accurate
all humidity sensors deteriorate and it depends on the type of element sensor location and the type of filtration covering
I hope this humidity mod solves the problem for this project only time will tell
still waiting for one more part for the outdoor particle sensor project
Hi
Everyone
All the parts have arrived
Very easy to build
https://luftdaten.info/en/construction-manual/
I have the sensor work inside for testing (need to get it in a case)
Registered the sensors and are on the map
Sensor 43282
The humidity and temperature sensor
If there is very little air flow the sensor will be slow in its response staying about 98/100
Going to add A small fan to the case to draw air over the humidity sensor
A bit like a aspirated shield
I am stuck setting the sensor up in Wd. my dyslexic is getting the best of my
Mick
Nice.
My sensor should be here very soon. I can’t wait to try this.
Hi
Going to use a
Bosch BME280 Precision I2C Temperature Humidity Pressure Sensor
Instead of a DHT22 the one I got is not working the way it should
Will sill add a filter to the BME280 sensor and mount in side a small aspirated shield
Will add some photos of the housing when finished moding
Mick
Update
The BME280 sensor is working well, can not believe how
Small the BME280 chip is
I’m using the SDS011 sensor for a long time now (maybe 2 years) and have it simply connected to the RPi over USB. I have it in a simple housing with tube extracted to air. Take data every few minutes and create a json file which is read by WD directly. I have no temp/hum sensor but I could simply take that data from the weather station itself.
I have mine running well, but I want to add a 4 leds to the enclosure to indicate power state(blue) and AQ (Green, Yellow, Red). However, I can’t find a source code. I know it out there somewhere, but don’t see any links on the website. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
