How much wind can these little stations withstand & repo

With (currently tropical storm soon to be hurricane) Charley coming our way I got to wondering how much my Davis VP Pro could handle?

I’m expecting 50 mph winds… and stronger gusts possibly upwards of 70mph winds… wont know for sure of course until it arrives.

The station is only on a 10 ft pole in my backyard. It’s in the center of an acre of land and the land is surrounded on the outer edges by trees so I’m “assuming” the wind wont be as serious for the station as it would be if it were 20ft higher.

What’s the strongest winds you’ve seen a station go through? Any ideas how well they do a) withstanding the wind and b) reporting it?

I’m such a newbie in this area :stuck_out_tongue:

Hi
I get 55mph winds here quite often…no problem to my VP
I do know of a station using a davis VP and weather display, where the whole aneometer pole and equipment was blown away when it was hit by a hurricane in the pacific
the last recorded windspeed was over 130mph!
