Help with APRS upload

I’ve looked through several posts and unfortunately didn’t get any where. I am on a network and behind a firewall. I know in our IE Browswer settings, for connections our Port is set to 80. I tried changing the defaulted 23 to 80 and that didn’t work either. Here is what i get when I click on the test button:

Start Time/date:12:01:43 PM 4/21/2006
Permanent connection selected
Permanent connection, will do ftp now
Checking for what else to do…
there are 1 more things to do
Aprs data sending now…
11004: [11004] Valid name, no data record (check DNS setup)
APRS Connecting to: arizona.aprs2.net
11004:

Judging by what I read in other posts, I have to say it’s firewall related but haven’t a clue.

I have attached a screenshot of the Settings page.

To start diagnosing a firewall issue start with the basics and test if you can ping that server , Open a command window (Start > Run > cmd) type ping arizona.aprs2.net and hit enter should look like

pingo.gif

No Ping…Unknown Host

Well, that’s a pretty fundamental problem. Is any internet connection working on that PC, like IE?

Is this your firewall or a work firewall?

Also try these at the command prompt:

PING 206.123.154.98

FTP arizona.aprs2.net

FTP 206.123.154.98

PING 206.123.154.98 - Good Ping

FTP arizona.aprs2.net - Unknown Host

FTP 206.123.154.98 - H:>ftp 206.123.154.98

ftp: connect :Connection timed out

company firewall.

OK, there is something amiss on the nameserver (DNS) side because you are not getting a destination IP address when you try to connect to a server by name, you migt want to investigate that with your system folks. But in the meantime it should work if you use the IP, so try WD again but substitute the IP address 206.123.154.98 for arizona.aprs2.net

hmmm…i do not see where it has this server listed.

I see the following:

Server to rotate to:
socal.aprs2.net

2nd Server to rotate to:
indiana.aprs2.net

i don’t know…seems this is more a hassle than maybe i want to deal with. I put in the IP (at least i think i got it the right spot) and now here are my results:

Permanent connection selected
Permanent connection, will do ftp now
Checking for what else to do…
there are 1 more things to do
Aprs data sending now…
APRS Connecting to: 206.123.154.98
Aprs connected
sending pass command
user CW5703 pass -1 vers wx-display 10.34r 31
10057:
Error connecting to aprs server
Aprs error count= 1
Trying next server
Trying next server, 206.123.154.98

I take it i need some sort of id and pw to connect? I did not receive anything like that?

thats a better result and looks like its worked
that pass command info is all normal
