HELP...For dummies

I have been using WD for approx. 1 year…The more I get into the program the more complex and complete I see that it is…

As I look through the online help docs. I see that they do not come near to keeping up with the upgrades and advances in this excellent program… Would it be possible to keep the help files up to date and more complete so that someone new to the program, like me, can use all of the features that this program possesses?? :smiley:

There is a counter argument to this saying that the forum is just as helpful as a help page, and if people would learn how to use the search function(this is true for all forums ) they could find a lot of the answers.

yeah, its hard to also do the help/update the help as well…i just dont have any time left over for that :cry:
but if anyone can do a few help pages on areas of the program that are not currently covered, and some already have in the past, I would very much appreciate that

I realise that an updated or complete manual could be as much work as writing the software itself, however I do think it would greatly increase sales. I for one, feel I have extensive computer experience, but as a newbie to WD, during my trial period, I questioned whether I could figure everything out. It is not very user friendly without a manual I can print and read over feature by feature, button by button. I now know the answers to everything can be found on this board, but do others? Could it prevent others from purchasing it by not knowing all the answers are here?

I hope this does not sound negative. WD is a fantastic piece of software with outstanding support and a great value at only $65 US. I just hope others realise this, purchase themselves a copy, and keep supporting it.

i have been asked to produce a pdf help file in the past…
i did, years ago, but it soon got outdated
so the online help was developed by a user of wd :slight_smile:
and people are free to contribute, and some have.
idealy, i should download all the material and do a new pdf file
but it takes me too long to download stuff from the internet like that with my slow 28k connection (i cant get high speed interenet here…maybe next month).
over the next few months i will have a bit more free time (cows stop milking over the winter)
