45mph doesn’t sound too bad, but that rain!!
It’s really not. On the side of my mountain i am actually well protected. We’ve had these storms before and the record wind at my house is 27 mph. The real problem is that the White Pine trees like to break in half. Being in a National Forest trees fall down, bring down power lines and it can be days before they can get them all. Fortunately, my propane tank is full and i will be good for about 8 days on my generator if need be.
and Helene creeps closer…

Keep safe tomorrow!
Thanks, the rain bands are arriving. I am at about 2.5 in of rain so far. Center of the storm will arrive here tomorrow about 7 AM as a Tropical Storm still. We have a betting pool going on what time we will lose power.

Jim
Im in the bahamas on holiday at the moment and getting battered by rain and wind. We keep having power cuts when the thunder and lightning starts.
And on saturday we go to the usa for a week
You seem to have missed the worst of it, rain/wind-wise. Did the power go off?
Yes all the time…
We must have the tail end of hurrican helene as its 425 miles wide
We clearly missed the worst of it. Lots of rain, but little wind. A few gusts this afternoon after the rain cleared out. Amazingly, we haven’t lost power. 6.5 inches of rain, max gust 10.3 mph and its all well to the north of us now.
