I was thinking it would be great to have a chart/graph that showed how much rain occured during each rain event… for example it has been raining here off and on all morning… I’d love to know how much rain I got in each rain event and see how long each event occured. Currently the graphs show when the rain began and how much the total for the day is… but there appears to be no way to know how much we got when… or how many events make up that total.
I only suggested this as an additional graph… I would like to know how many times it started/stopped raining and the amount of each event… as well as the overall stuff which is already perfectly documented…
this sort of can be done already with the real time grpah, if you have rain plotting on it
ie. as you move the cursor over it, it shows the total rain, and the time
what I will do is add a running total for the last adjustable minutes
or some thing like that
I was just putting it on my wish list. I don’t use the real time graphs, as I access the data remotely exclusively… thought it would be neat to see how frequently the rain intervals were (guess I’d have to determine how long ‘no rain’ would indicate the event has stopped… perhaps 5 minutes of no rain registered would quantify as the end of that event… Just curious if I get lots of little showers, or a few long showers… what makes up my total rainfall… that sort of stuff
No show stopper though… I just try to jot down any idea that I think of, before I forget it… if it sounds good to you and the rest… great… if it gets rejected… c’est la vie!
Enjoyed our first real rain of the season here in Southern California… nice to not be breathing smoke!!!
I withdraw my feature suggestion as it appears I am the only one who would use it! Current event is cool, but a day is filled with events. I suppose I could write a sproc against the data in my SQL server and pull out how many rain events there are in any given 24 hour period, and how long each was and how much rain was accumulated during each event.
i could do it…
i know the VP has a storm rain feature that works on these ideas
its just could open a can of worms, knowing when the rain stops and starts…but i could base it around the system i already have for its stopped raining icon, etc
but what i do want to do, as i have needed it myself, is with the rain on the real time graph, and with the cursor moving across it, have a total you can zero, then it totals as you move the cursor across the rain event…and it tels you the time elapsed…
Thanks Brian. I don’t ever post suggestions as “I need this”, simply try to jot down an idea or a wish when one occurs to me. Much of it can be done at our end by digging at the sql data, but some of it may be nicer in a graph format or some such setup that WD produces automatically… A rain event graph that is generated on schedule that shows number of events, length of event and totals for event would be pretty cool… In my opion at least…
But, certainly it is not something that is “needed” by us…
Just put it on a back burner somewhere and if you ever get to it, or feel it useful, I’d be a happy camper!
