Gmail Invitations

I have 6 free Gmail invitations to give away if anyone would like one.

Just send me a PM with your first & last name, and email address.

For more information on Gmail:
http://gmail.google.com

I have 6 also if any body want/needs one.

I have one question…

first, how is everyone getting gmail invitations? I always see people giving them away :?

And what really is so great about gmail? To me it seems to be just an over-hyped mail service. :?

Maybe somebody can enlighten me.

Well, I suppose it’s 8) and you do get a whole free gigabyte of storage so you’ll never have to delete your spam

it did make everyone else give more… yahoo went from like 15 mb to 100 mb, and hotmail went from like 15 mb to 250 mb

what is cool about having a GMail account? - just because of the name?
I don’t want to save EVERY email - I don’t see the point. I delete a good percentage of my emails when they are no longer relevant - even non-spam ones.
And should spam ever get to GMail I don’t want to start educating it on what is spam and what’s not all over again. And Spam is only set to get worse and not better.
And I like sorting my email into folders - I don’t want them all in one place - and I rarely go back and search my emails for anything.
My lifestyle also means that when I am away from home I don’t need to access emails via webmail - it can all wait until I get home - I am lucky
I think I would wait until GMail is on general release anyway - I don’t think I want to trust a Beta system on test to store emails at the moment - even though Google are widely known!
So I think in my case I will stick with my existing email setup.

Hello Martyn,

Actually when I got mine I really figured I wouldn’t use it but I have always maintained a web based free email address, with Yahoo, since 1998 in the event something happened to my domain addresses, it is something I personally recommend to anyone who has their own domain.

In any event I got it and I found that it actually seemed to be better at organization then Yahoo and I have gotten substantially less spam into my inbox with Gmail then I seem to get with Yahoo…

Anyway I found myself using the Gmail account for all weather related emails which, for me simply has worked out very well as work related come into my email client and get immediate attention and weather related come into Gmail and I get a notification in my Browser and I get to those when I can.

It really depends on your usage and needs but if anyone is looking at a web based free email provider I really can recommend Gmail over the others I have used and there is no doubt that the storage and sorting capabilities really sets it apart IMHO

thanks for your comments Bob - it does sound like GMail is ideal for your needs - I have updated my previous message now to state why it doesn’t meed my needs.
I do actually have Hotmail and Yahoo accounts but they are rarely used - I just don’t have any requirements for webmail. I prefer to have all my email stored and backed up here at home.
And my main ISPs provide webmail access anyway so I can still check for really critical stuff if away from the PC and then download it as normal into Outlook at home. I don’t have a laptop so would not really access email when away - unless I found an internet cafe. I don’t want computers to rule my life.
But I agree GMail is a good concept and will be excellent for those who will use all of its features. But that is not me. If it was I would have gotten an invite from someone ages ago. But it is still only a BETA TEST SYSTEM!!

Time passes, GMail might have been cool 6 months ago when I made that comment, but now it’s just another email system…

…and it wasn’t a serious comment either.

I’ve been using Gmail for about three weeks and even feed my domain mail through it - best feature I like about it is their SPAM filters. They’re better than what my server is employing and I noticed that after I started using them - it’s a joy to open the mail for a change.

Hi, Have got some Gmail invites if anyone would like one (obviously free of charge). Please send a PM rather than reply to this post (first come first served).

I would like an invitation PLZ! [email protected]

Done!
