General/ftp related questions

Hello…my first post here. I received a weather station for my birthday and had no idea all of the things you could do with it. The weather display software seems to be very sophisticated and I look forward to using it. I am new to web site creation and this type of software, I tried a search but could not find what I was looking for. I do have a couple of questions if anyone can help…

I am successfully uploading to my web host the files that it is generating. One of those is the .htm file that has the name of my weather station as a prefix (lknweather.htm). It appears to be the main page. I have looked through all of the options, but can not figure out how to have that name changed to index.htm instead so that I can use it as my main page.

Also, when the files are uploaded, they are marked as hidden when I go to the ftp site to look at them. Is this on purpose or did I change something without knowing it?

Thanks,

CT

hi you can set to use index (and tick to use .htm or .html) under setup, control panel, webfiles/webpage setup station file name what is the url of the web site?

Thanks for the quick response! I am not at home right now, but I will look for that tonight. The url is www.lknweather.com…It is not updating right now, the last time it updated was early this morning…

Thanks again,

CT

note that if you use index.html, make sure you have the remote directory set ok, as a error with the CWD command and if a index.html in use, then wd will not upload that file, in case it was going to overwrite your home page

When I said it was not updating, I meant that it was not because the computer is off, not due to the program.

I have read enough of the messages on here to know to look at the ftp log “full” option. The command to change directories appears to be working without problem (once I figured out I did not need the \ in front of the public_html directory name). It just shows the uploaded files as hidden for some reason. Not a big deal, I just set the ftp browser to show all files and I can see them now.

I will try the other tonight and let you know how it goes.

Thanks,

CT
