Fwipointer.gif

Hasn’t uploaded since June 3rd. Brian, does it only update & upload if it changes or should it be uploading regularly. Last upload was when I forced a test upload, otherwise nothing automatic. Thanks!

fwipointer.gif Uploading every day at 13:18 ok here WD v10.12t 2004-06-07 06:19

Mines not uploading unless I view and and hit test, then it does 1 upload, otherwise it doesn’t upload regularly. Any suggestions Brian?

Hey Windy, still waiting to hear back from you, need some support. My fwipointer.gif graphic does not auto upload, though everything is turned on and ticked, I setup up under the “VIEW” menu, do I need to turn something else on somewhere else?

How often is it supposed to upload? Daily? Hourly? Last update was a week ago when I hit the “TEST” button, otherwise no go.

Thanks

Hi All

Besides the problem with the fwipointer.gif not uploading, wich I don’t have, are the resulting fwi values right for you? This is because the weather here in Portugal has been warming a lot in the past few weeks (and fires began) and the fwi values were decreasing, even when temperature, humidity, wind and no rain meant the opposite… just for taking conclusions, I tried a little free software also from NZ, the FWI Calculator, and by comparison I figured out that this one follows the weather conditions. I would like to have some feed-back from you about this, even if this does’n happend with you.

The FWI may be a complex item. This thread may help.

A search on FWI may also help.

Thanks, BC, I already did that. The problem is that right now I I have a mean of comparison and I just wanted to know if there are any other WD users who feel the same way. But, as I said before, it may be my problem, not a WD problem. Netherless, after using for a while the FWI Calculator as a term of comparison, I feel there’s a sensible difference.

do you have ticked, upload the fwi pointer, under view, fwi data?
check that…
i have been away for the last 4 days.,…

the individual parts of the FWI are all , really, equally important, and reliance on just the fwi is probably not justified…
i.e the initial spread index gives an indication of how quickly fires will spread once started…and the list goes on

Yes, Brian, I wasn’t referring only to FWI, but also to the other parameters: FFMC, DMC, DC, etc… But now that I have the two systems working at the same time, the WD and the FWI Calculator (this one also makes the calculations relative to FFDC, SFDC and GFDC), I can make a good comparison between all results and, within a month, if you think it’s enough as a period for study, I’ll bring to you the results, in order to take (or not) any conclusions. If you like, I can send you also FWI Calculator, as it disappeared from the usual site where it was for download.

hi
sounds good
so, have you started with the same numbers?
the drought code is an important one…
also, the readings are taken at midday (or 1pm (you need to select that), if its daylight saving time), and also its rain for the 24 hours prior to that time

Yes, I did it exactly like you say, exactly with the same values. Now, let’s see what happends within the next 30 days. In what concerns the rain, can you believe this is the 29th day with no rain? Jesus, the last year was catastrophic and this summer begins so dramatically…
Well, I’ll keep in touch.

Thanks, Brian.

maybe email me your settings wxben,
wdisplay.ini from c:\windows or c:\winnt
and
wdisplayftp.reg, after going action, back up registry entry now…it will then be in the folder, databackup

also check for any errors under view, program error log too…

Hi, Brian

Maybe I found one of the reasons for the problems I mencioned earlier: the FWI parameters are updating at noon and I realised that the weather values in FWI setup and in log files don’t match at that time. For instance, yesterday I had, in FWI setup, 22.9

hi
its actualy the 10 minute average period before noon (or 1pm if its daylight saving in use).
average speed is used (10 minute average)

Yeah, that explains it… thanks again.

Hey Brian, I just sent you those 2 files via email, I seem to have everything checked with no auto updates, if I go into VIEW FWI then view the graph, it updates the pointer, then I click TEST then OK and it uploads.

everything looks ok
i notice you have daylight saving time ticked
that measn it will update/upload at 1pm local time…
any errors under view, program error log?
also, i notice under web upload times , in the ftp/internet setup, you do not have ticked, do daily averages/extreme updates…?

but i see you are using the customise internet and file creation …
so, try entering a time to upload the synop.daily web cam.tide and fwi (scroll down to see that)

Adressing this first, doesn’t seem to be uploading at 1pm daily, but I’ll double check after a couple days if/when it changes.

No problems in the program error log

daily averages & extremes do log and update appropriately…

Under the customize internet & file creation there is no setting for fwi, top to bottom and I don’t see synop.day or webcam.tide, I’m not trying to upload a webcam & don’t know what the synop thing is, but none are listed under the custmize screen
