meteofrog

What version of WD are you using?
What version of the FTP are you using?
What is your operating system?
How do you connect to the internet? Full time connection or dialup?
What time did the hang occur?
Are you using a desktop or laptop computer?
Are you using a screen saver?

Sent you the ftup 6.42 via e-mail Roman…hope it helps it sure works great for me, Capt Dilli is right though, sure helps when everyone puts the pertinent information in their signature.
Good luck Roman!

(when i get a chance i will try and re do the good method i had)

Brian,

For some reason my webpage files quit being updated. I have monitored the FTP session several times, and it indicates that the latest files are being uploaded, but they aren’t showing up on my webpage.

I have looked at the local files on my PC and they are the very latest files according to dates and times. Comparing them to the files that are on my website, they have not been updated since Wed at 5:45pm my time.

Have any ideas?

post here you ftplogfull.txt file after a upload
if you are using homestead, someone else reports they have changed something with their directories!

230-Thank you for using Homestead! Please read the following message
230-for important information and guidelines that should answer basic
230-questions about the Homestead FTP service.
230-
230-* You do not have a file size limit restriction for uploading your
230- files. You will, however, be restricted by the amount of storage
230- that is available in your account.
230-
230-* You cannot upload more than 20,000 files total per Homestead Web
230- site.
230-
230-* If you are using Homestead SiteBuilder LPX, you can upload files
230- to the root directory of your Homestead Web sites.
230-
230-* If you are using Homestead SiteBuilder, you cannot upload files
230- to the root directory of your Homestead Web sites.
230-
230- Each Web site is assigned two directories:
230- (1) The root directory is reserved strictly for pages created
230- with the Homestead SiteBuilder. Imported files cannot be
230- moved to this directory.
230- (2) The ‘Files’ subdirectory is reserved strictly for imported
230- files and folders. Both the root directory and the ‘Files’
230- subdirectory can be viewed from the ‘pages & files’ section
230- of the Homestead site.
230-
230- IMPORTANT NOTE:
230- We strongly encourage you to refrain from uploading folders in
230- an existing subdirectory structure. Instead, please upload all
230- files directly to the ‘Files’ subdirectory. The Homestead
230- SiteBuilder is designed to work best with uploaded files that
230- reside in the ‘Files’ subdirectory.
230-
230-We hope you enjoy using the Homestead FTP service, and remember that
230-your comments are always welcome at: [email protected]

I am using homestead here

Wetbulb Guy

I also am using Homestead and having the same problem. It looks like someone at Homestead has screwed things up. I sent them an email about it, but with them, who knows when they’ll get back to me.

You might try contacting them also and let me know if you hear from them… I’ll do the same for you.

Keith

Sure will do

No sign of them yet

guys, if no joy after a while, then contact me direct and i will set you up on my tokaanuskihire ftp server instead

My $0.04 worth:

a) I’ve good experience with several sites hosted by www.netfirms.com, they have a free option with one small banner add at top, and an adfree option ($60/yr I think).

b) If it takes homestead much longer to get back to you it’s worth trying to figure this out by using manual ftp from the command prompt. Looks like the problem starts with the directory path you are selecting;

CWD /Homesteads/SnowmakingTechnologies/files/ourweather
550 Invalid path.

Assuming you have a PC with Win95 or later

Open a command (dos prompt) window
type FTP ftp.homestead.com
it will ask you for your username and password
then type PWD this will show what directory you are in, my site shows
ftp> “/” is cwd
meaning I’m in my root directory
then type DIR
this should show what subdirectories are under wherever you are. Something like
drwxr-xr-x 3 ftpuser web 512 jan 01 2002 cgi-bin
drwxr-x— 10 ftpuser web 512 feb 01 2002 www

this means I have 2 subdirectories, cgi-bin and www.
my files have to go into www, looks like yours go into files/something. The way my sites work is that the login already gets me to the equivalent of /Homesteads/SnowmakingTechnologies so to ftp I just CD to “www”. If you are lucky you will see “files” as one of the directories under where your login takes you.

QUIT gets you out of FTP.

If you try this post or email me what you see, and I’ll try to help further.

Steve

Im not computer literate but Im smart

Ill just go under Brian’s server. Brian when you read this can you email me at [email protected] and i will still keep “ourweather” for the weatherstationfile name under “webfiles”.

All I need to know is what to put in for the remote directory/ftphost/username/password, etc
thanks.

i have the solution
take out the
Homesteads/
so the remote directory is just
SnowmakingTechnologies/files/ourweather

that works

also wet bulb you are downloadiong a noaa file that does not exist

Yup, that works

good
(becuase it was just another case of people blaming me for something that was not my fault (Ok most times it is, LOL and the answer is in the ftplogfull.txt file, if you just look for it…but glad i was able to help)

Brian

The people at Homestead should be working for you!
Thanks a million.

(still haven’t heard back from them by the way…)

Keith

luckly i had kept wet bulbs original setup in the ftp program i use for testing…and that was the solution, as all the directory structurer was still there, just not the root directory of homestead
(nikoshepeard realy did the initial ground work)

Many thanks to you also Nikoshepherd!

Keith
