I am running WD 10.20o debug version.
I am getting frequent “Cannot Create file…” errors. When this occurs the FTP process stops uploading until I stop WD and restart. It happened at 12:47 AM again. When I restarted WD it began uploading again but the main screen graphs are “missing” data from 12:47 AM until I restarted at 8:27 AM this morning. I am attaching a screen snapshot. Notice the “gap” between midnight and 9 AM.
this would suggest that your program is not in the same folder as your data files folder
ie wdisplay2 (which you mention) may have your data folder but does it have the running version of WD in
check your hard drive for other wdisplay folders and see if any folders with in are updating with your present setup running
if the ftp program is uploading a file that wd then tries to save, then wd will report an error,in the error log (because that file is in use, but its not a serious error) but it should not affect the ftp program at all.
how often do you have the webfiles being saved?
maybe reduce the frequency, so that they do not get resaved until the ftp has finished
FTP stopped again. I re-started WD at 8 15 AM today. It stopped uploading at 10:38 AM. Error log showed lots of cannot create. Once this error occure, no FTP updates are taking place. If I exit WD and re-start it the FTP resumes.
Some files are being updated hourly, others are being updated every minute.
The version is 10.20o debug.
No other wdisplay folders are being updated. The wdisplay2 is where I did a fresh install.
one other possiblity for your graph doing that is a corrupt data file i have had it stop files uploading
are the files you update every minute the same as the the ones that can not be created
try reducing those ones updated each minute to a less freqency and that should help alot
Yes the “Cannot Create” files are the ones updated every minute. What is strange is that they will update fine for several hours. Then I get Cannot Create Error. After that, ALL FTP activity ceases until I restart WD or click on view FTP Log. Usually (but not always) FTP resumes after that. However sometimes I do have to SAVE/EXIT and re-boot the computer.
Brian, I will change the times from one minute to something longer. Do you have a suggestion as to what frequency?
Also, on the customized internet create/upload page, does the tickmark on rihjt side that says “Use the Each Minute Setting” override the induvidual settings. For example, if I have All Time Records set to hourly but also have “Use the Each Minute Setting” ticked— is this updated every minute or every hour??

i think i know whats wrong now…it might be that I am checking for too many cant create errors…and then stop the uploads if too many reached …(i.e for if the webfiles folder was on a another pc or LAN, but that was lost).but I am not sure where in the code I checked for that,
if you have the 1 minute ticked in between the create and upload buttons, then that is one is controlled by the master 1 minute tick…otherwise there is the ability to set to create and upload each minute via the create and upload times settings
i have to pretty much sign off now…
It happened again after only running for 4 hours. I will try version q and report back.
My orginal problem of icons missing in the sunmoonimage.jpg has gone away since I turned off screensaver.

definatly slow down the update rate of the files to say only 30 minutes, and then see how things go

(as for the can not create limit, I know someone asked for that to be implmented, and when you suggested that might be happening, I had a look through the code…but its not there (and i was vague becuase I was sick at the time (vomiting bug (and now I have diaheroa (you really wanted to know that huh))
note, weather display does work as adverrtised for 1000’s of people, but its just not working on your PC (who knows why that is, maybe its the PC (and it is not a very high spec PC))

solve the issues I am havingbut we have solved some of the issues, one of them being was your screen saver and I have given advice to limit the number of cant create errors, by reducing the updating times of the files (what speed internet conneciton?)

First, thank you for your efforts to solve my problems. I HATED to ask for refund cause I like the software (when it works). I REALLY appreciate your efforts in support. I would rather have the program run than have a refund.
I know I am using a low end machine but you do not give minimum specs. I have run scandisk, defrag, and memory check - all were OK. You do state it works on Win98.

you will need to save the log files and data files to a safe location on your HD

have you set any uploads for every 5 min or have you set webcam to do something every 5 min
I have uploads set for 5 minutes.
I do not have a webcam.

you could try switching some of the uploads off and see if that stops the error
