FTP 6.67 Hangs

Brian,
I am using Weather-Display V.9.79d and when it tries to upload to my website, the FTP exe hangs until I do a CONTROL,aLT,Delete and shut down the task. The program log is not showing any error, nor does the FTP error log. When the program hangs,it displays multiple “open port” messages. The version of FTP is 6.67 I believe, and I am running Windows 98 on a dial-up modem.

Any ideas?
Dale

Hi
ok, i did make one small change there…for the worse by the look
but its been working well for me and 99% of others (i have had another report like this)
I will undo that small change I made and see if that helps
you can use the ftp verison from an earlier verison of WD…

hi
please try a new 9.79d, which has vers 6.68 ftp

Brian,
OK I downloaded 9.79d and the FTP is now disconnecting the modem, except for the following lines that are appearing:
All Agenda complete, doing FTP log off…
FTP logoff
QUIT

Also, I did a manual download of my METAR station by clicking on the test button under METAR download and the first time I tried it,I received an error message of: Error 143-Busy performing current action at time/date 12:00:00AM 12/30/99. I tried a second time and received an open port error and the FTP program hung up until I initiated a Control,Alt,Del. No big deal,I just won’t try that again!
Thanks

a few others have reported this
I have a dial up modem, and i cant duplicate this
i,.e it might be certain modems or something
that is why i used the separate hangup.exe program
i will put in a option to use that , again…

please try a new 9.79d download
thanks
and tick use hangup.exe, under the connections setup

Brian-
Downloaded the new version 9.79d with version 6.69 FTP. I ran the web page uploads to every 15 minutes with no failures or “open port” lines. Worked flawlessly! I also ran the manual “test” button again with no problems. Thanks for the support.

By the way,any chance of fixing the Record High Temperature alarm LED?We had a record heat wave here in Seattle, and the main screen alarm LED was flashing, but no indication on the All-time record screen.

I am getting random freezes with the latest run of the d versions. locks the whole system up so I need to reboot the computerby disconnecting the power at the usp.

Seems to happen after a successful upload. nothing in the logs to say what.

So I have gone back a bit to 979a. not a clue.

hi ardvark
i am not sure what is going wrong for you
i cant think of anything that would have changed that much that would affect you././//
except adding the battery status, but i doubt that is the problem

it runs fine all day, unless it is something with Windows XP, I can’t figure this out.

I looked at the error logs, and all that happens is that the files upload normally, no issues, then the system freezes. Unless I downloaded some glitch by accident , I can’t think of anything. I did do a scan disk and a defrag, reboot to see, but that didn’t help.

So what I am going to do is start with 979a and thensee what happens. If that goes smoothly, then I will try the d version or what version we are at right away and go from there.

eventually, this will work out.
